View Full Version : Favourite Assassin's Creed Cover?

Just as the title of the thread suggests; always been a fan of ACIII and (especially) Rogue's covers - maybe I have a thing for wintry landscapes and the looming prospect of conflict. Brotherhood is pretty bad to me, but Syndicate takes the trophy for worse cover IMO and I'm tempted to get the special edition version just to avoid it. Guess I don't like it when anyone but the Assassin/s are on the cover :p

So which is your favourite game cover so far in the series and as an extra, are there any that you particularly dislike?

ac rogue without a doubt. say what you want about game, but shay looks like an absolute badass on the cover (he is a badass).

acs would be second, though.

Assassin's Creed III is the best:

http://www.torrent.ge/uploads/14339541191819022593MV5BMjE4ODE0NDY1NV5BMl5BanBnXk FtZTcwNjYyMTA5Nw@@._V1_SX640_SY720_.jpg

Mostly it's the colours, the Animus white (which showed in AC1 and AC2's colours as well) blends perfectly with the white of the sky, the white of the ground and the white of Connor's robes. The image is layered and it's violent. It's also the only AC cover that isn't a pose. It shows the Assassin actually assassinating, whereas in the other posters, it's like they're on the runway.

The other cover I like, for similar reasons as AC3 is Black Flag:

Mostly I just love the fact that Edward's Sword and Gun pose forms the Assassin A without being obvious. I like the bright colours and although it's a pose it works.

I quite liked Revelations cover with Altair and Ezio together. Overall it is a pretty plain cover, but i liked the symbolism behind it. Showing the old master with the new master.

I think ACIII is the perfect blend of the more "white room" style covers of AC1-ACR and the more realistic covers like in Unity and Syndicate.

I think they get better and better. The last 3 have been great even if I have moral issues with Connor's cover art. Watching him kill a British soldier whilst an American flag flies in the background made me throw up in my mouth.

Also. I kind of wish this was the cover for Syndicate - http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/pxm/AC/Forums/BG2.jpg

You miss lots of the picture with it only as the background for the forum sigh :(.

Brotherhood. I like the symmetric arrangement. (Ezio in the middle with crossed blades, three multiplayer characters on each side.) Then Revelations, even though I think it would have been better if Ezio and Alta´r were back-to-back. I'm more fond of the "badass pose" pictures than ones where there's action in the background, like AC3 and AC4. Syndicate is probably my least favorite, looks too busy. I would have preferred something simple like this:

Oh come on SixKeys, only 1 of your 3 suggestions had Evie in it. I do wish that last one was Syndicate's cover because right now it really looks quite ugly.

AC3 is my favourite, nice bit of action going on, the colours are great too.

I 100% agree. Not only is it busy for an AC cover (which historically have featured the protagonist and perhaps some hazy background) but it's kind of busy for a game cover in general.

AC3 for me. I prefer the classic look of AC1 and AC2, but I think AC3 has enough of that element in there along with the battle scene that makes it look badass.

Syndicate is probably my last favorite so far next to Unity.

UNITY was the worst cover of them all. That Boy Band pose, ughh.

The thing is it takes a while for you to guess that Arno is the main man, you can't tell from a glance.

I actually kind of like Syndicate's cover, it looks like a Punk Rock album cover and it's set in the inside of the bar so it's essentially telling you that we are doing "Guy Ritchie's Victorian London", it's a cool expression of style (which is as important in a cover or poster as what it describes) and it uses a rare colour scheme, dark gray, ash black which suggests industrial soot. And in the background you can look at chimneys over the shoulders.

The funny thing is in terms of cover evolution, right until Revelations, the usual approach is to not show the setting. So in AC1's cover, you saw just Altair, in AC2 you saw Ezio, in Brotherhood Ezio and the Multiplayer Avatar, in Revelations you saw Altair and Ezio. But there was no sense from the cover which country, which era it would take place in.

It's from AC3 you had the setting done, but there it's done suggestively, you don't see George Washington you don't see a monument or a city bur you can tell from the cover it's American Revolution, from Black Flag it's Pirate Era. UNITY went bald put four guys and in the background you put Notre Dame on one side and guillotine on the other. There's no suggestion or anything. Syndicate works better in that the Victorian ness is there but it's a different kind of Victorian element.

Mine is AC 2. I loved the simplicity of the box cover with Ezio and his double hidden blades (which I thought were awesome at the time) with the animus crowd behind him.

In retrospect the Brotherhood cover is totally misleading, it implies that the people around you are your Brotherhood when they are actually targets you hunt in the game in Templar Hunt and they are actually animi avatars.

SYNDICATE also echoes the Brotherhood cover. But at the same time it's different. Jacob poses on the chair (which by the way is suggestive of this rather famous photograph in British culture which I will link here (http://www.vam.ac.uk/__data/assets/image/0007/184273/2006al2240_christine_keeler_arno.jpg) since it's potentially NSFW although there's nothing nude there : )

Also Syndicate's cover is more accurate since you have actual allies and Rooks around Jacob, and you have Evie on the Right.

I know I'm nitpicky, but AC2's cover always bugged me a little. I dislike how Ezio is standing slightly off to the side instead of straight towards the camera (like in this pic (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/videogames/detail-page/B00269DXCK_BG.jpg)) and there's too much white above him. Symmetry is especially important in the Ezio games since it was the Renaissance, a time where symmetry was everything in art. They could have done some cool "Vitruvian Man"-inspired cover or something.

Also Syndicate's cover is more accurate since you have actual allies and Rooks around Jacob, and you have Evie on the Right.

It would be better if there was an even number of allies on both sides and if Evie was more prominent. IMO she should have been behind Jacob, leaning with her arms on his shoulders or something.

Actually, the cover would be perfect if you just took out the left guy with the top hat. He makes it look too busy and his design is too detailed which distracts from the hero(es).

It's a bit better then the original version, which had him right under the flag, and no soldiers, rather then it all being part of the background, but yeah, you can see why people were confused about Connor's loyalties at the time.

Not sure which is my favourite, I have nostalgia for them all.

The one they show is perfect, Connor stuck in the middle between Redcoats and Patriots.

lol. generally speaking, it seems unity did damn near everything wrong. xD

syndicate is my second fav but i do have one small gripe with it: evie's prominence - it makes it pretty clear who the star of this show is.

If its any consolation, I think Syndicate's cover more or less demonstrates Jacob & Evie's characters than who's the star essentially... Jacob being the more 'center of attention' kind of guy and Evie being the discreet, classy Assassin.

Then there's the Rooks who represent the 'Family' message and all that.

As for the covers it goes:

1) AC1/AC3
2) Syndicate
3) Rogue
4) AC4/Revelations
5) AC2
6) ACB
7) Unity

hmm i never thought of it that way. you do have a point. i reckon it does do a pretty good job of representing their individual characters.

I don't have a pic of it but I have to say the steel cover of AC3. Connor just looks like a brutal killer on the cover.

I am interested in the symmetry. Altair is angled and facing left, Connor is angled facing right and Ezio is dead center in the middle.

And of course Ezio has a megawatt grin on his face under that hood.

AC3's cover looks the most badass, ACB the most classy. Picked AC3 in the end because it gives me the urge to play the game again.

wait, the cover or the game in general?

if the game in general, it sure is nice to see that there are some fans on these forums who still love ac1.

you were probably talking about the cover, though...

I think I like AC3's cover the most. It's only one where we see some action. The rest of the covers are pretty samey. Just standing there... I guess a close second would be Revelations' cover, since it's got Ezio and Altair on it.
