I can't forget how Oleg stood up against users of the FW-190 for about 1,000+ postings on the ORR holding to the so-called realistic cockpit.

No one could see out of the friggin' cockpit, because it just couldn't be altered. Realism...realism. BUNK!

Now we get to aerial combat planes that never encountered each other in WW2 or Korea.

I'm sorry, but a great sim is just being milked for the bucks.

You're right...

Besides, you need not remind me. I don't have to buy the add-on.

Major disappointment...not because of a few new planes, but that it is just a dis-jointed add-on to an otherwise great sim.

...and Dynamic Campaign makers can make real simulation of the WAR extending into late 45 or 46 and maybe Germany winning the WAR. I think Lowengrin's campaign generator allows that, now he will have the planes to allow even more. Not that I am into Buck Rogers or anything, but still, the Jets do allow some Dynamic possibilities.

Jet's need better navs than waypoint sets. Nav's are pretty serious business when you're flying at mach level speeds. Navs are just not addressed in IL2-FB, and the way the sim is going ---> towards BOB---->backward in time it would appear that navs are still not to be a competent part of the IL2-FB series.

Control via trim settings is also extremely critical at the speed Jets travel. Trim has pretty well been negated in IL2-FB.

In so many words...I don't think Jet's and Props can be adequately provided in a sim like IL2-FB without some major overhauls in the software. Major overhauls, which have not been made up to now.

You know where I stand on any computer mission or campaign building...boring, time wasting...made to make a fool out of the user more often than not. LOL

I'm just a lonely Offline player that's not mesmerized by the thought of flying some new aircraft, a few maps, and "World class stupid computer campaign generator...thingy"

Yeah, I Feel the Pain. But I have at least several years before my own DCG is finished, by then I will have the computing power to run the kind of front line simulation I need. As a programmer I can write algorithms that can plot waypoints that will render a front line situation.

Below is an early test I did, just sit in the cockpit and do nothing but look around. The Ju~88 takeoffs are Awsum. What FB could have been from the start. The hideous thing, I must scour every map I will use to find these cammoflage air fields to operate from--and then the program, once done, uses the 0 and 1 wayoints, calculate the takeoff positions and directions for each flight, each maybe 30 meters behind the one in front. That is what I am doing now. There should be at least one available airfield for each 10km square grid on the map. I will probably limit myself to much less. Again, the completion of my ideas is years away, but my interest is Eastern Front, and there will not be another EF sim for many many years to come.

Onwhine, not yet, but I will sign up for the Biplane Servers, and ten (10) late WAR monoplanes or Jets are worth Tolerating and having Compassion for any one (1) Biplane or fixed gear monoplane fighter that might slip past the Censors. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif <---forgot the winky

also i dont know why people are confused about planes like the BI-1 or P-80

this game was NEVER meant tto be limited to what flew in the ETO during WW2

RIGHT FROM FB's RELEASE there was intention of making a Luft46 expansion

why are you confused/bummed out ?

the P-80 was a WW2 airplane , its a great addition

The old forrest & tree thing........ and if you only fly offline..then what is the problem? Offline you really dont have to be bothered with any plane you dont want...... I guess some people just have to vent... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Um...
IL2 and FB are commercial products. They are meant to make money. If there was no profit in it, we would not have them in the first place.

Now relax and go shoot some AIs.....

So...let's agree to disagree?

I appreciate all the good work from 1C:Maddox to-date, seriously I do.

My interest in IL2-FB is principally the building of exciting and reasonably "historically correct" missions.

I've been holding to the IL2-FB anticipating some solid improvements in the software, especially the FMB. I was "cawing" (sounds a Crow makes..LOL) for improvements in the FMB even before Forgotten battles was released.

So...what if I don't buy the new add-on with this myriad of possibilities for Star Wars. I'll pick it up on Ebay for $5.oo US after it's been out a couple weeks. You can buy Forgotten Battles now for $5.00, why should a simple add-on be any different. I will buy it, but I'm not busting my hump to pay $30 at Electronic Boutique or GameStop as soon as it comes out.

Am I supportive...I have been for a long time, but to be honest I don't appreciate all the past arguments and vehement stands for so-called realism, realistic this and that and then 1C:Maddox turn around and hypocritically release a "Star Wars" package using the Core IL2-FB software. If they wanted to create a "Crimson Skies", suits me, just don't mess with what we've got.

In fact, I think the aircraft and maps in this new add-on are all third party stuff with a few tweaks by 1C:Maddox. Just enough tweaks to call it an IL2-FB software.

Brown nosing ain't my gig.

Oleg, and 1C:Maddox have been conspicuosly absent from these boards for quite some time now. I do appreciate the patches, and I really mean it. I'm just aware things have changed alot in the past year.

I don't think Oleg and the 1C:maddox is doing a lot of reading. The polls provided on these boards asking what users wanted in new war theatres was totally ignored. The majority of simmers wanted a Mediterranean/European theatre and yet we're going to get the Battle of Britain. The BOB was fought over a very short period of time, in a small geographic area...with a bunch of aircraft in the air at one time.

I can tell you straight off...

THIS KINDA STUFF IS MONKEY BUSINESS (http://store.ubi.com/productimages/pc_il2acexp_s3.jpg)

If Oleg and 1C:Maddox ever provide us with an improved, competent Mission builder I'll have the time of my life...LOL

I'm personally looking forward to the P-80 and Go-229. I think it's great fun to explore "What If" scenarios. I just hope the latter is adequately modelled in terms of the stall/spin inherent in the flying wing design, as witnessed by the several close calls and a fatal accident with the XB-49 of the same era.

well .... as for your not liking the P-80 coming ,..... i dont know what too say

a LUFT46 expansion was planned RIGHT FROM FB's RELEASE

your expecting FB to stay historic was NEVER going to happen

is that plain enuff english for you?

I still find it almost hilarious that people are offended by a plane being offered. There isn't any reason why you should actually even SEE the plane if you don't want to. Unless you play on open dogfight servers and even then there's always a possibility that there will be no jets allowed. There aren't right now...

I LMAO at all the exaggeration. A couple of the added planes are experimentals, so people compare the whole sim to a game where you put your own plane together (Crimson Skies). (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif)

I'm sure the jets will be banned from most servers, and we'll probably get some jet-only servers or something. I don't think there will be much effect on the online game and offline you can ignore whatever game feature you want http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.
