I was asked to make it known that both Bf109G6 and G6Late had the same Galland Panzer behind pilot (unlike in the sim)...so the only difference should be the classical frame canopy on G6 and Erla Haube canopy on G6Late...both planes should have the same Galland Panzer behind pilot...see the link below to check for yourself...

I have read that one Hungarian 109 pilot decided to keep his old canopy, alone in his unit, with a Galland Panzer.. he had saw some terrible turnover incident, which convinced him that the more robust contruction of the old style canopy worths the speed loss...

Altough it would be nice, I tend to think that there are bigger issues... 109Fs lacking droptanks for years, for example.

"Galland-Panzer", or Galland-Armor is the nickname for the head armor with a transparent armor glass in it in late 109s, like G-6 Late in game. You can see the difference on the pictures above, too. It replaced the steel armor head plate.

It was introduced in the summer of 1943.

The G-6 went trough a lot of modifications as was production in large numbers. The first builds had the old canopy as well as head armor from G-4s (G-2s). Later on Erla Haube and Galland Panzer were introduced. Some Standard G-6s had old canopy with Galland Panzer...there was a lot of mixing. Example som late versions of G-6 had the Erla Haube canopy but the original tail unit. Some G-6s had the old canopy with new high tail unit...

Gee...I think what big different between old and new design canopy is improve seeing emeny plane around than just speed. I won't said you are wrong but what I noticed it from play fly all different variants of Me 109. Cheers!
