Yep, so just as the title says.

Let's start with some comparisons shall we? ;)

Whaaaat? No pictures? No bias? - Well of course not.

All that time and effort scrambling through EIGHT games that have water when you could just discuss and post them yourself?

Pfft, please. (https://youtu.be/xX7ZnZyYPUM)

Feel free to discuss. :)

ACIV: Black Flag without a doubt.

Black Flag no contest. :p Water was already great in AC3, and they specifically made it more advanced for Black Flag because of how important it is there :p

I remember the day when this was the pinnacle of water technology:

Black Flag no contest. In general a very beautiful looking game

I know I'm in the minority here (as I often am), but I thought that ACB and ACR had amazing water visuals.

Rogue and Black Flag.

Black Flag, with AC3 a close second.

Compare the Caribbean to the waters of the Arno, Tevere and Marmara in Florence, Rome and Istanbul. Actually the water in REVELATIONS is quite good too.

Black Flag for sure, the water is so beautiful.

Easily AC4 ;)

ACB, ACR and AC3 also had good ripple effects.

Syndicate.

What? :p

At least it makes the Thames look filthy. Which it is.

Black Flag and Syndicate.

Syndicate seems to have taken the shaders and ripple systems from Watch Dogs.

Without remembering what I saw in the syndicate demo... AC4 was awesome...the white peaks of waves made it look real and the water running back and forth across the deck and the spray in the storms when the waves crash against the hull were special

I agree.

Black Flag easily. Though, curiously, all of the games have had garbage splash and ripple effects. Especially Unity.

Black Flag, breathtaking it was when i sailed around, it felt so organic and water was beautiful, considering you get the full "out of the water" Lol if that makes sense, everything maxed out to the end on PC

AC1 had the worst water. That stuff would kill you as soon as you dove in it.

Even if you leave out the underwater water, AC4 had the best. Not just the ocean and the storms, but when you would get close to shore, and look down through the water to the seashells on the sandy bottom, and see Edward's shadow on the surface, and his shadow on the bottom, and the shadows of the surface ripples dancing across the bottom. I could stare at that all day.

What a great post! I can do nothing but agree with you. Assassin's Creed 4 had the best water qualities. Lets not forget that you could even see the details of the bottom of the sea from the Jackdaw (for example sallow waters, and deep rocks). Also it had the Underwater, which was actually part of the Full Sea map and not extra locations (I know it because once I leaped from the top of the ship and got stuck Underwater, 5 meters deep, but could not go back to the surface and also not to the sea bottom, I was right under the Jackdaw. Also an other time, I managed to get to the smuggler cave that lead to the underwater sea backwards but with cloths, swords, guns etc). Assassin's Creed Rogue River Valley sea was excellent too. (North Atlantic=Huge Icebergs!)

There is no argument, it's AC2 because that was the best game and it had Ezio in it!

Just joking...... There is no argument it's AC4, even for the PS3! I still think AC4 is a better looking game than ACU. Not technically, but just the atmosphere that was created in black flag was amazing!

I'm sorry, but what did you expect? :p

"The water in that game that was made specifically for an environment with lots of water and therefore had lots of attention put to it? It sucks, worst water ever."

Heh, well in all honesty, I kind of figured most would say Black Flag - and to that, I agree. However, curiosity was mostly my aim today. To merely see if any thought differently as all. Then again, I wasn't expecting anyone to say it was the worst either. :p

Black Flag on PC/PS4/X1

Also ACR had some really nice looking water

Black Flag, obviously. What really bothers me though is that, even though the water itself looks beautiful, once you start swimming there's absolutely zero splash or ripple effects. Edward just sort of floats through...

I'll be honest I cant really tell the difference. ;)

I just assumed that the newer games like Unity would have better water.

Black Flag without a doubt :)

AC Black Flag is the obvious answer, and is likely most "correct". However, I'd chime in that ACIII deserves more love here. ACIII had some beautiful water, ranging from the pristine Caribbean, the treacherous Atlantic, the Frozen North Atlantic, running rivers on the Frontier...
While Black Flag might be the best at the water game, ACIII looked almost as good, and with a great amount of variety.
