Is there a way to keep the pit on and keep the arrows for a/c. also turn off muzzle flashes. I cant afford track ir but do like the pits. Its too awkward using the keyboard to look around. This feature was in eaw and would be nice in il2. I know its not in any menu but perhaps changing a file?

Afraid none of your requests are possible. However, the mouse works perfectly as a 'view control' device, with a little practice you might find it's great. Icons are the only substitute for the 'arrows' when the cockpit is turned on.

Sympathize with you greatly there, quigs.

Try getting a Logitech Marblemouse--it's a pretty good ambidextrous trackball mouse that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I've also found a little trick to maximize the function of my POV hat: I assign a button on my HOTAS to Look Up and one to Look Down. Pressing these buttons while manipulating my POV hat gives me the 45 degree angle views so useful in combat, both up and down, in whatever direction I select. The same trick works with a keyboard key assigned to those commands + the POV switch.

cheers

NewView allows you to use your hat switch like a cross between a mouse and track IR. It isn't as fluid as using either of those, but it is a lot better than the standard FB hatswitch pan views.

It also moves you around in the cockpit as you move the joystick - simulating the G forces to a certain extent and adding to the realism.

It's a bit over-sensitive in this department so you will probably want to tweak the settings a bit.

I love it. You can download it here:
