For especially fixing the AI so they stop firing when you (the player) pulls in front.
Of course, i may be wrong, but I`ve watched replays and noticed that AI friendlies will stop firing if the Human pilot pulls in front. Well done.

(I may be wrong because it`s not in the README, but I think I`m right).

From what I have seen the AI has shot over my shoulder, but quit firing when i based between him and the target.

Great work Dev. Team. Thank you for the hard work.

Bumpity-bump!

Funny, isn`t it, people will complain bitterly about bugs/things wrong with FB, but when it`s fixed very few people will pipe up and say THANKYOU (especially the whiners). This is why we get the disparity on the forums of all we see are complaints but very little praise at times.

So THNX again to Oleg and his hard working programmers for fixing another problem.

I'm still waiting for a patch that fixes the bug that allows the stupid HI(human intelligence) af my teammates to shoot me down online!
Seriously: Thanx Oleg for a great patch http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I think it's quite common that you take FIXES for granted and "moan" on still present bugs. This may be unfair to some degree but honestly I am not running to my audi-reseller and thank him that he fixed the buggy airbag I bought with my car....

Now I still thank the developers for giving us add-ons, new planes (however stange they may seem at times) but as this is a forum for criticism(which often goes down to flame-wars) and suggestions I think it fulfills it's role quite good(thanks to the mod of course).
I think it's ok if the "Oleg, I want a baby from you"-Threads would go to "general discussion" and since Oleg is not stupid and knows how many copies were sold I think that's the BEST "Thank you" he can have.
If the guy someday can own a 911 I am happy for him to enjoy his life, since he pleased so many others... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Besides: The AI is still "dumb".
You order your wingman to help you and he will fly past 2 enemies to get on your six, just because the plane you were chased by wasn't 200m behind you...

JU87s which drop their bomb start to dogfight spitfires... etc....

Once ground attack planes are within an expected combat area, the next waypoint should be their ground attack waypoint. AI planes will not drop bombs to dogfight when they are following a ground attack waypoint--one of many thousands of undocumented Features in FMB.

(A car isn`t quite in the same thing as a 30 computer program).

(WRONG! It`s a forum to keep the developer (oleg) informed of WHAT we like AND what we don`t like. Also, a way of informing him of historical details he may be unaware of. Not just critism - also any critisms should be CONSTRUCTIVE).

I think it's ok if the "Oleg, I want a baby from you... Blah, blah, waffle *snip!*

(Ah, yes. Rather than encourage Oleg, thereby further increasing your chances of having your pet bugs fixed you`d rather jump on the next whine without any appreciation. No wonder Oleg doesn`t speak here any more). If you want to whine do it on someone else`s thread.

yeah its quite less raging now
I got shot by a fella IAR a few days ago but it might be because I moved in front of him too fast.

thing is, it COULD have happened in real life so its ok if it happens VERY RARELY in the sim http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

as for kill stealing, its still there, but less evident.
I saw one of my wingman shooting at a plane on fire, but it was "in the heat of the moment"http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif so its ok that may as well have happened in real life (prolly happened a bunch of times)

but my biggest thumbs up goes to the ENNEMY AI
Now its very potent. ALWAYS check your 6! especially if 190's are around http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
and is it me or they can do deflection angles now!!!So you cannot rely on the slight turn anymore to make em waste all their ammo!

on the negative side tho (theres always one) Ive noticed the AI still disengage quite fast, and when they do they still ignore the bullets you may fire at em. No evasive maneuvers whatsoever.

thats said, and of course the fact that the AI still uses easy FM, so you cannot really outdive a Yak in a 190, which is rather annoying

BUT, Maddox and team are on the good way!
lets hope there will be lessons learned and that BOB will have a terrific AI!

yes thats still anb issue too
the thing is, if you order your wingman to COVER you, it means he will target planes that have targeted you. if the ennemy planes follow you but havent really targeted you. well your wingman will simply come at your 6 and ignore the ennemy planes. at least thats how I analysed it.

also the AI doesnt always respond to your orders well. I often say to my fellows IL2 to GO TO THE NEXT WAYPOINT. they dont, they just follow me like idiots.

a last thing about covering.
if you are number 1, usually no2 respond well to the order COVER ME but no3 and the rest...not very well
they answer: Ive got you covered but they just keep firing at the ennemy as if they were ignoring the order, even if the ennemy they are firing at NEVER targeted you, know what Im saying?

anyway...
we better get used to it

No, I think it's not you. I've noticed it too. It's still not perfect, but at least the *cheat* is gone as far as I can tell, which deserves a big thumbs up http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Not perfect (yet?) but much, much better. Thanks Oleg & crew!

SeaFireLIV,

Too true, the friendly AI is seemingly better in that area of friendly fire, Campaigns are alot more playable offline.

But AI priorities are still weak at best, they still want to dump every bullet into a enemy who is on his way down. Which is a bummer because if you find yourself in a 2 on 6.
We end up getting to those poor odds because I still have quite a few instances of my wingmen, running into each other, or other large fixed objects like the Ground, Large Hills, etc. Which obviously puts a damper on any tactical moves on the enemy or building any experiance up in the friendly AI in a campaign.

It's getting better, alot better than before the patch up, so it is being worked on.

I have to agree about the improved 190 AI (A model especially) although this might have happened before AEP. Early on I stopped flying QMB against LW because they were so easy (especially the 190s), but the quality has improved noticeably recently.

wow have you guys tried to fight 109K4 AI planes???

pathetic, dunno why but the AI CANT use the Kurfurst. cant even take profit of the speed and climb rate advantage...or maybe all the K4 Ive met so far were rookies but....sheeesh

the AI flying IL2's still has probs about NOT crashing in the ground tho...

the ground ate 6 of my wingmen in the last 2 missions will I was attacking panzers...

if they would obey at: Proceed to next waypoint none of that would have happened...

a lot of progress was made but a lot still remains...thats when yuou realize just how hard it is to programm a GREAT AI...
