Get Hyperlobby. Visit the Sturmovik Essentials Thread for more info. Its at the top of the page.

Hyperlobby works with FB and IL2. Its a better place to game by far. Better server options and when the dedicated server is released there will be even more servers. Ive never tried Ubi's servers but Ive read that Hyperlobby is far more superior, and also most of the poeple I see that post here fly on Hyperlobby.

Apart from what it is said above, u need a good PC configuration (strong PC---if there's more than 2 A/C's on your map and your average fps is below 15fps---is not good) +good joystick and maybe trackIR. If u don't have those than really u don't wanna do this---you're only get yourself frustrated.
People wondering --- wow how this guy can do that an I cannot (not even after several months of practice)--- answer is simple -> EQUIPMENT. If u do not believe me, fly exactly the same A/C as your opponent, and you'll notice he turns faster, he climbs better etc...

It's a shame that hardware is as necessary as it is, but it takes a fairly stout rig to run the game well. The extras are nice but by no means necessary.

With a good rig, you can compete just fine online with simply a quality joystick. (i.e. MSFFB2, CH Fighterstick, Saitek Evo) A good HOTAS + TrackIR will open your eyes dramatically though.

First: You need to realise - YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

So now they're outta the picture...

You'll need a good line ... it's about 15k download/player in game... so a 56k line would give ya about 4 player game = smooth play .... IF YA JOIN... now if ya HOST the upload comes more to the focus....

To play you will need a good joystick / hotas ... try saitek or ch-products...

And well if you're realy new : set skin d/l OFF in setup... that'll make gameplay smoother... ONLY play on perfect video setting if your rig is up to it on-line... and try these links:
www.il2skins.com (http://www.il2skins.com)

and Hyperlobby is at

Try to fly on warclouds server if you are good enough http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
www.war-clouds.net (http://www.war-clouds.net) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif the best there is... on hyper or anywhere...

Seriously, you will need a sense of humility for the first month or so. The level of competion in Hyperlobby is a quantum leap above off line or even Ubi Comm gaming.

Join a squad. It's fun. Come see us at Phantom Fighters. Get a voice com. You'll become as addicted as the rest of us.
