And hey, there's a flyable prop plane too so this shouldn't annoy the I-hate-jets crowd too much http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I've just had another check back at this site and it's been revamped. New update on the ship models at the start of this month. Plenty more details present and appears to feature a dynamic campaign.

The below is copied directly from the site at www.thunder-works.com (http://www.thunder-works.com)

-----------

Features :

Jet Thunder will feature:

- 6 flyable aircraft models, with accurate cockpits, onboard systems, weapons and performance. They're as follows:

McDonnel Douglas A-4 Skyhawk (Argentine A-4B, A-4C and carrier-based A-4Q)
AMD Mirage IIIEA (and israeli-built Mirage export model IAI Nesher/Dagger)
FMA IA-58 Pucar√°
BAe Sea Harrier FRS.1
BAe Harrier Gr.3
AMD Super Etendard
(detailed information about the aircraft types listed above will be available soon.)

- Campaign based in the historical events of 1982, with a complete Air Order of Battle featuring more than 50 different AI aircraft.

- Historically accurate Naval Order of Battle, featuring more than 40 different ship models (frigates, cruisers, aircraft carriers, container ships, LCUs, submarines...)

- Complex terrain engine enabling high quality textures for low altitude flight feeling as well as good high altitude visualization, with aprox. 70% of the argentinean Patagonia region as well as an high quality terrain mesh of the Falkland/Malvinas islands (based on accurate SRTM data).

- Land-based air operations in the following airbases:

BAM-Trelew
BAM-Comodoro Rivadavia
BAM-San Julian
BAM-Santa Cruz
BAM-R√¬*o Gallegos
BAM-R√¬*o Grande
BAM-Malvinas
BAM-C√¬≥ndor
BAM-Calder√¬≥n
(detailed information about the above airbases will be available here soon.)

- Carrier-based air operations in the following aircraft carriers:

HMS Hermes
HMS Invincible
ARA 25 de Mayo
(detailed information about the above vessels will be available here soon.)

- Complex/realistic operation and limits of the onboard radar of the Sea Harrier FRS.1 (Ferranti Blue Fox, based on the Seaspray radar used by naval Lynx helicopters), also of the Agave radar of the Super Etendard, and finally, the Thomson-CSF Cyrano II of the Mirage IIIEA. The other flyables have no radar, but their equipment will be fully represented (gunsight, navigation, RWR, weapon deployment, trim, engine/fuel operation).

- Full V/STOL flight model for the Harrier/Sea Harrier, realistically based on vectored thrust vector, rotating within the limits of the real plane's nozzle system, not the augmented flap performance as seen in other flight sims.

- Range of single missions, based on historical missions, on either argentine or british side. Full Mission Editor will be available so players can make their own missions and share with other players.

- Complex Air-Sea-Battle campaign system: based in a "commanding AI" that will give orders to naval, air and ground AI units based in the current tactical situation, the player will fly in an enviroment that may change unpredicably, so, although based on historical order of battle, equipment and resources/logistics, the outcome of the campaign can be different.

- Multiplayer modes: dogfight room, cooperative, and online-campaign.

- Fully scalable realism options, for a less steeper learning curve: no stalls/spins, no crash, simple radar, unlimited weapons, no wind/turbulence, missile effectiveness slider, no cockpit, and others.

- Range of training missions for each aircraft, focused on main aspects for each plane: twin-prop flight (Pucar√°), V/STOL operation (Harrier), carrier operations (Super Etendard, A-4, Sea Harrier), supersonic flight (Mirage).

- Possibility of inclusion of new, accurate "in-house made" flyables, depending on interest (Vulcan bomber or Aermacchi MB-339 for example) in a later expansion pack.

- Moddability: aircraft paints can be customized, and tools will be available to create new terrains and campaigns - for example, american A-4's carrier-based in a Midway Class carrier (instead of the ARA 25 de Mayo) for a Southwest Asian campaign mod.*

* This covers the single-player aspect; we're still pondering about the best balance to avoid problems with the multiplayer aspect.

Very interessting - especially as there is only LOMAC as comparable product.

Let us hope, that it won't be as buggy as LOMAC http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Interesting. I would like to see the Vulcan too. What a beast! During Malvina‚¬īs War one of them had to land in Rio because some kind of malfunction and caused a little national comotion.

wow, that rocks. I just got a book about the harrier and reading it thought it would be really cool if there was a sim with one in it. This is perfect! I love that era of jets, should be a really fun game i think.

When I was at college, 1 of my tutors was the chap that designed the bombsight for the Vulcan bombers which were used during the Falklands War.
About the game itself, I see the developers making quite a few quotes concerning SFP1 and features of SFP1 not found in other games like the "super flaps", top stuff. I hope the game makes it to production, I'd love to try the VIFF technique, works well with the Harrier in SFP1. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Falklands/Malvinas is one of the most interesting conflicts of the last 30 years. Fought Fair and with Honor from both sides, both sides showed high profesionalism and is a great plataform for a game i think.

Note:: This may be the first opportunity to sim crapp jet Mirage III. I would buy it just for that.

LOMAC only sims Noob jets

Hey, I just noticed ubi board won't allow the word crapp I guess cos they don't want us talking about crapp planes anymore (too many requests for famous Hollywood TV Noob planes perhaps).

in all seriousness, i really dont understand why a modern jet sim cant be made using IL-2's engine, and if it can (with possibly minor tweaks to teh engine) why isnt the company developing?

I'm certainly looking forward to the whole deal, the falklands war affected my family a great deal. Dad lost alot of mates on the sheffield and a couple of ships i forget at this moment. He was lucky enought o avoid it as his ship, the HMS Battleaxe was undergoing a refit

I just cannot wait to play this sim, There are many ww2 sim. But this maybe unique, there have been Malvinas sims but there are kind of old and cannot be enjoin fully because of lack of resurces of the time. But now with the sim comming out it will show how each side fought with honor and how each side honor their fallen comrads. I have lost my Uncle on this war (Kill in action). And i am Proud to be from Argentina, and have have my family fought for for that island.

If they manage to give us also the MB-339 that would really make it a nice **** planes battle set.

Yeah, I have Lock On but all that techno-gubbins doesn't really float my boat. This sure as hell would.

A couple of planes with radar, most without, and only limited missile sets. Grey cloud, low altitude, lots of ships.

Looks fantastic.
