Slightly OT...did the USAAF use any P-51C's with the Malcom Hood? I hate it when they stick the incorrect blue/white star and roundel thing on it (with the stars edges sticking out past the blue part)...especially on a 1944 or late 1943 (in general please - no arguments http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) aircraft.

Problem is the USAAF used different coding for each theatre.

Pacific we saw a lot of planes with multiple numbers, in ETO we saw them with letters, in MTO we saw them both, so it's probably better to leave it as is now.

Yes the markings seems to need some additional work --including the coding. Korolov, maybe there could be a way to link the coding (letters or number) to the skin you selected at the preview menue. For a PTO skin there aüüear numeric codes and for ETO letters.

The USAAF insignia also changed. From the blue circle and white star to white bars with blue outlines, as well as some with red outlines.

IceFire, the B could have Malcolm hoods so it would seem logical the C could as well.

My question was more...did the USAAF use any P-51's with Malcom Hoods? Was that a RAF thing only?

I think it was a RAF thing only, Icefire. Don't think I've ever seen a P-51 with a malcom hood in USAAF colors...

Yes, the USAAF used the Malcom hood quite alot on both the "B" and "C" model Mustangs. It was quite often a field modification but a very, very popular one.

Probably the same reason why the Fw 190 F-8 still has a bomber style coding and why most of the numbers and Gruppe markings on german fighters are *questionable* http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

I´d like to see the ingame markings be removed and have the markings on the skin, only the number/letter to remain. Like with US-P51, USSR-i16 and a few others.
Reasons:
(1)Markings ingame looks very bad, espessially with a beautiful-lovely-awesome skin by Tchaika...
(2)Not often one skin is used by different nations...

But offcourse, if this was implemented everyone would have to use their skins differently and it would cause alot of confusion and stuff so my idea is´nt very good.
But my point is: Ingame markings look very bad
