Just a thank you to the hosts of this great server...

Little lag, great scripted maps...and always lots of honourable flyers to shoot me down non-stop.

It's guys like you and the other hosts that make this game (and community) so great.

Bump ... thanks to all the folks who are hosting dedicated servers. You all deserve some sort of formal tribute.

i wish the game spy players would get lost though , you cant get in from HL half the time bcos the games full and you dont know .. plus adding to that is the fact that everyone in HL is pinging the server bcos it shows not full all the time bcos of them ..

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Alot of people log in through IP to GG I believe.

It's ASE users mostly or IP joiners on many servers.. With HL loads lately and errors joining alot of people downloaded that as an alt I think. Seems to be more common lately. HL just needs to display 'true' players vs just those logged in via Hyper on servers I would imagine. Not sure though how/what/when it can be done.

I LOVE this server. I'm hooked big time....btw, I fly by the alias of Voxman (I know there was a thread about how lame aliases are a couple of days ago..).

A big round of applause, accolades, etc. to the TGD guys, especially Sammie for this server.

I know there's more servers out there, but when I made the step up from open cockpit, WW view, etc, to GG settings, this game got infinetly better.

Westcoastphil = Voxman

Good to know http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The game server is still up, but the forum server (and stats server) are being worked on at present.

Thanks for all the positive feedback and know that I too (a regular for over a year and a half) am pleasantly surprised to see the diverse demographic of the regulars there.

The quality of the product Sammie, Lunix and all the mapmakers provide are only meaningful if the server has good numbers of pilots (which it usually does).

Thanks for the patronage and overall exemplary behavior.

Cya online!

Great server!

Although for some reason it's always got alot of warping people flying on it. I suspect it's either the script - or just too crowded.

Last time I flew, every time I got on someones six, they nicely warped away.

I usually just go to the stat http://209.209.44.31/il2/stats/ page first to see how many are online. Since Sammie bumped it up to 32 players I have found it a little easier to get on.

Maybe its just me, but it appears to me as its a bit laggier since it was bumped to 32 players? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif Still, one of the best servers around imo.

My ping hangs around 60, the ONLY server that manages to do that.

The only thing I didn't like about greater green was the "No Padlock" option.

But I think i've gotten used to the idea of hitting F9 depending on what I am doing to keep track of aircraft with my hat. Although, the hat on my joystick is a little fubar and doesn't always work properly.

I just finished flying a Dora around in that server and had a blast. Shot down four aircraft and still had a ton of ammo left. Although, by rights one was a half kill. Is it just me is the Dora VERY good at climbing with the throttle wide open, high AOA and boost enabled. The thing feels like a damn F15 to me. It eventually overheats at about 4000m but cooling it back off doesn't take long and it always has that power in reserve when you need it during a dogfight.

I also snuck up one someone succesfully for the first time. I was in such a good mood after that. Could never do it previous to this version of Il2 (I don't play online that much).

I have noticed no change at all with the 32 player max. settings. Still smooth as silk with the occasional warping from some dude on a 56k in Siberia, but the server wont let him last long regardless.

http://gr.fipu.krasnoyarsk.edu/camms/archive/ww2_fighters/0112/pics/0112_2_1.jpg
Did anyone see that or was it just me?

TgD Thunderbolt56
02-23-2004, 02:06 PM
Personally, I HAVE seen more warping lately. But I've also seen more people from farther reaches of the world with higher pings. With the increased distance there stands a greater risk of packet loss which could be more of a reason for the warping.

I don't feel there's much of a difference as a result of the increase in the number of players.

Just as a quick heads-up:

Greater Green's website is down at the moment while Sammie moves to a new machine. The IL-2 server and the Counter-Strike server are both still active and will remain so.

The website should be back up soon.
