We have been a squadron since release of IL-2 Sturmovik orginal, and no we have never played CSF2, that game not good enough in our eyes. Thank you for taking the time to read this and Semper Fi

Just curious how many Black Sheep squadrons there are now? I'm sure there will be more, Boyington was pretty popular, but it would be nice to know who is who early on.

We are the orginal IL-2 Black Sheep Squadron, we have held this Tag since Il-2 was released, some have migrated from that garbage game CFS2 and used same name. Ours squadron has never played CSF2. Myself VMF-214_HaVoK and others have been VMF-214 since the orginal IL-2 game. The rest can call themselves the sheep but there is only 1 Black Sheep Squadron in IL-2 in my eyes.

We are the original Blacksheep squadron of the IL-2 series. And we will be around for a long time http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif One of our squadmates by the name of Snopipe modeled the Corsair that you will be flying in PF http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

To clear things up there is a BSS squadron Black Sheep Squadron, they came from CSF2, we are not afiliated with them, they are there own squadron, and there tag is different than ours ie BSS. They acknowledged we were here first and I respect them for that. It no-longer bothers us they use same nickname as we do as long as there tag is different.

Your point? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif Besides its description reads: Squadron forum not recruitment forum http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
And besides this is the general discussion forum and this is a general discussion about recruitment. Who gets to decide what is worthy of general discussion and what is not?

Lets face it guys, while I respect all of their choices, there is no way 1 command can hold it for themselves. I formed more than 16 squadrons in the old days, and I see more than 5 of them being used elsewhere. I am not gonna cause a stink, and just let it go. I will just slap a WIFC in front of the designator, carry on, and wish all the best of luck in their endeavors.

Snacky, I like your guys site. My first permanent duty station after going through VA-122 FRAMP was VA-195. My TOD was from 1980 to 1984 when we were flying A-7E's. Still bums me out to see her stationed in Japan now.

Thanks,
We have been involved in jet sims starting with Hornet Korea up to Lomac recently. Our hayday was in Janes F18 so we are eager to get into carrier ops again. Props is something new for us, but we are learning fast. The real 195th actually flew TBM Avengers in WWII under a different designation so I am hoping to get an Avenger at some point.

btw- I spent 4 years of my 5 year tour (1989-1994) at NAS Cecil Field in JAX. I was attached to VS27 (RAG) and then on to VS31. still miss the boat.

Snacky, That would be VT-19 and you can find the patch on the dambuster website, but incorrectly labeled as VT-195. Since she was my first squadron I memorized the history. What I find funny is that they have no clue today on the designator for that patch at the actual 195 site, oh well.

I did my shore duty with HC-3 at north island then finished out a 10 year career on CV-63. I was aslo embarked with CVW-11 on CV-66 and CV-63. I too miss those short JP5 laced showers and water hours LOL. Scuttlebutt now is that it doesnt happen anymore on the new boats. Lucky for them LOL.

BTW, I will not be using VT-19 for PF, already have all my squads picked for the pacific theater. Hope to meet up with you and Vidar over there when the time comes. Brief history as follows;

VFA-195

VT-19 Established 15 Aug 1943
VT-19 Redesignated VA-20A 15 Nov 1946
VA-20A Redesignated VA-195 24 Aug 1948
VA-195 Redesignated VFA-195 1 Apr 1985

Salute!

I was hoping that the Avenger would be Flyable i was going to have us start using the VT-19 label in HL, but alas it is not going to be flyable sooooo. But Maybe in the Future they will i just wanna fly low and drop torpedoes with really slow planes
