I wish they'd have asked him the two most obvious questions, i.e. has Ubi approached him for their games since ACR and would he like to work on the franchise again someday. From the way he answered the question about other composers, it sounds like he wasn't entirely happy with ACR's direction. I wonder if there was a falling out or if he just wanted to move on from the franchise.

It might be payment. I guess he felt that he was contributing a lot to what made the games great and Ubisoft were maybe not paying him enough. Also Patrice Desilets had left and this interview says that he was especially important in bringing him on board. Likewise the hasty way Revelations came into being over 11 months might have annoyed him since its short notice to put together effective music though I do like Lorne Balfe's music for Revelations and AC3.

Generally Ubisoft doesn't seem to invest a great deal in AC these days. The mentality seems to be "these games should be easy".
