As I now start to create my own missions, I like to host them too ofcourse. Now each game is different about how much upload a player approx. needs per second.

I got 12kb/second up (128kbit) so how many players can I safely host with IL2? If I select 5 players it means 4 online players. That's 3kb/sec a user. That enough??

As I have no real experience with hosting in IL2 maybe someone experienced in hosting IL2 games can help me out?

ok Internet speed does help a lot

when the Hosts Internet is too slow for the amount of people it can be a cause of Warp

but also . . .

the power of the hosts computer is also important

i had 128 Kbs internet for a long time & i hosted 6 people smoothly

i could also host 8 smoothly when the internet wasnt very busy

but also important to hosting lots of people is having a good computer , Not just fast internet

When hosting Freelancer in the old days, I could host 10 players. With Hidden and Dangerous2 (fist person shooter) I could max. host 5. Very different results. I indeed do not want to have lag or warp due to my upload.

It depends mostly on your actual upload speed. If you truely get a constant 128k then I think you will be able to host 8 players with no problems. I have 160-180k upload speed and can host 14 players warp free in a DF server or 16 in a COOP, assuming their connection doesn't suck http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif. As has been said, your computer's speed does need to be taken into account. Whenever your PC pauses, everyone warps. So a reasonably fast and clean machine is needed to host well. A clean machine makes the biggest difference. You should have no more than two programs running in the background. Those programs being Explorer and HL (or Ubi if you use that).
