Hello,

I'm currently putting together an article about WWII aircraft gauges. Some of you may have read my article "fighting for your life" already. This new article will be similar; kind of a tutorial in nature.

Anyway, As I've pursued this project, I've only discovered my own ignorance and need some help. Could any body please recommend good sites/books on the subject. I'm interested in the history, function, layout, operation, and construction of WWII era gauges. I'd especially like to get my hands on training material/manuals on the subject.

I intend to include a bibliography and no source will go w/o credit. Thanks for your help

Wish I could help. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif But I am in your corner to do it. It sounds like a very good read for sure.

Well it won't help much but you might want some of these pics located at EBAy. http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search.dll?srchdesc=y&query=WWII+aircraft+gauges&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort

After eating an entire bull, a mountain
lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a

Thanks Toad, those are pretty good sights.

How about training material? doesn't have to be WWII, just material on reading gauges.

I've got a few manuals and handbooks which give info on gauges such as principles of operation, errors and error correction, internal diagrams, etc. There's also a section on instrument (blind) flying. I could do some scanning.
Any good?

Two good titles on resp. German and Japanese cockpits, with lot of attention to the gauges.
