Now I'm wondering whether circling sharks will be modelled. Combat outcomes in the campaign being: KIA, MIA and EBS (eaten by sharks). http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Why should that surprise you that a Samurai would carry his sword into battle.. even if he was in a plane? Dont forget this was pre Americanized Japan.

It's silly because it's being worn on his back and that would not be very practical if you were flying an airplane with an enclosed cockpit and solid seat, he'll it's not even practical for any pilot no matter the planes configuration, what would it's purpose be? If he were to need an edged weapon why would he not take a smaller bladed weapon that could be attached to the leg and not a hinderance?

Everybody talks about the katana but I found a nother mistake that is not mentioned:the parachute harnesses!Since in the drink the pilots get rid of the harnesses and is ironic that the japanese harness is so well done that models the easy release pin on the main bucle http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Thanks for the great pictures, as always. Looking forward to getting my copy of PF.
One comment about the floating pilots: they would never be able to float in the water still wearing their parachutes. Once in the drink, (if able) the parachute was discarded very quickly or get dragged under.
I know it's pickky - no complaints! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The thing I dislike the most about Japanese planes is that they have the windscreen wash lever and indicator lever transposed. So whenever you want to turn right, you turn the windscreen wipers.

This is based only on my vague recollection of assorted history channels shows, but I believe it was relatively common, or at least not rare, for a Japanese soldier to carry a family sword into battle. A number of American servicemen brought them back to the states after finding them on dead Japanese soldiers. I do not have the slightest idea whether they were worn in aircraft, but I would not be totally surpised to find out they were.

An inflatable vest below the harness is a no no. Accidentally bump it and have it fill, especially at altitude and you can count on having a collapsed rib cage. The chute harness is designed to wear tight, no slack, or the chute deployment forces will bust you up bad when those loose straps decide to catch up. If you wear it loose enough for a vest say bye bye to the family jewels when the chute opens. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

The Yokosuka MXY7 looks gorgeous to say the least. I was wondering of the implications for the game if these purpose-built Kamikaze aircrafts were made available (to be piloted) and their impact in online multiplayer sessions.

It's not a sword. It's actually a tube connected to his *## so he can blow into it and make himself float. Saved many yen on CO2 cartridges. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

BfHeFwMe,
Actually, if a life vest was being worn by air crew, the para' harness MUST be worn over the life vest. Otherwise the user could not remove the harness in a hurry. Take a look at wartime photos of pilots/crews wearing their gear.
