Anyone seen this? Looks kinda neat. I suppose this is a pay addon. Anyone know anything about it? Looks like a bunch of movies, skins and some missions.

quote:
Asylum Games has released a playable demo for Rebirth of Honor, their addon for the Il2-Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles flight-sim. "The end of May 1945 - -half of Europe lies in ruins. Millions have paid for Adolf Hitler's furious madness with their lives. They followed him blindly for too long, gave him too much free rein. But how do you think history would have been if the tyrant hadn't existed from 1942 onwards??? 'Survive' a war in the skies on the Eastern Front...in a fictitious, yet frighteningly realistic story." The addon will offer, among the other things, more than 350 minutes of film time in 75 ingame videos and more than 150 different pilot skins. Here is the main page for Rebirth of Honor. http://www.pluswave.de/body_index.html pretty cool to see there is a demo. There is also an Operation Barbarossa but I dont know the site address.

"Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary force:
You are about to embark upon a Great Crusade toward which we have strived these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. Good Luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking" - Gen. Dwight D. Eiseinhower-Supreme Allied Commander.

It looks like a bunch of videos. No mention of missions that I saw. Did I miss something?

FYI, the demo does not install into the default English program files folders. You'll have to copy and install into the appropriate il2 folders manually.

There are 24 missions in a campaign and a bunch of skins in the demo. Worth at least a freebie look. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It says it's compatible with version 1.21 of FB. Does this mean ya cant' play it if you have AEP 2.1 installed??

All versions of IL2FB are compatible with missions from earlier versions. Go for it!

Looks ok, but it seems it`s only from a Luftwaffe viewpoint http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif and the Campaign appears static (not dynamic).

Well it`s nice, but probably not for me.

It has much more variety than the so-called dynamic campaigns. It's not the same 10 or 15 missions that will be repeated again and again that you get in DGen. All that's missing is the extended statistics of DGen, but that's rather the fault of those who limited their use to Starshoy's program.

This campaign consists not just of some missions that would be playable from one side or another but it's rather a novel-like story told in missions and tracks. All the reactions I heard from players were very enthusiastic. If you're too shy (or stubborn) to leave your own camp you'll probably miss the best third-party add-on so far.

Don't give up on it yet, SeaFire. IMO, static campaigns still have a place in FB because the briefings can be structured with more detail and you feel like your playing a movie or someone else's life (take Extreme_One's campaigns for example which are static). Dynamic campaigns are good for their ever changing frontlines and day to day activity, but like some have said their one shortfall is very simplistic briefings at times e.g. "Go to point A fly ecort for squadron XXX, go back to base at point B" and so on.

My one worry about Rebirth of Honor is that it's a German product and might remain there unless a company like JustFlight or a US distributor releases it in English speaking countries.

Well, this sounds like a good time. But if it's in German, well, let's just say my German is so rusty it's dust...in fact, I speak hardly any German. And I read even less.

No there is an english version... translated from german no doubt. As long as the translation has been done well and checked by an English speaker for grammar and spelling, should be no problem.

Playing some of the demo missions and they are of a very high quality. My only concern is that all these missions start with "Mission Complete". I'm hoping this is deliberately for the demo and will not happen in the real campaign.

Or if it is in the real campaign let us hope it is a bug that will get patched http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I've seen this before in scripted campaigns... not a bug, just a deliberate method of making a mission easy to complete.

It makes sense in a campaign demo because it means you can skip any mission and move on to the next without having to fly it.

In the real thing I would hope that it is made so at the very least there is a 20 minute time delay on the Mission Complete message or even better, that there are specific mission objectives that need to be completed.

Alright. How do you play this thing? I've downloaded it but I can't play it. When I look at where I placed it, it says it's a text document. What did I do wrong?

ALright. I've found it and it's not a text document. It's under my il2 sturmovik file. But it keeps on saying I need to unzip it. How do I do that and where to?

OK guys,

I have the game for some time now and it is really great.
They actually made separate pilot FACES and skins for your each and every squadmates and you play with your character in a movie kind of atmosphere.
Just read the description on their site!
The best offline campaign in any respect imho.

Only drawback is that it is offline. However i threw the campaign in the coop folder and can fly them too...

The whole product shows that these guys made it with love...

just go over to their homepage and see, also english version available!
Homepage adress see the second post on this article from -VR-ScorpionWorm.

BTW they update the game after each patch\addon of FB, exellent support.

Cheers, Trebby

Emailed the dude and he said:

"Hello,

thank you very much for your interest in 'Rebirth of Honor'.

Rebirth of Honor will be released in the USA and England soon. So you will
be able to buy it in shops.
The publisher, Asylum Games, is just working on the contracts.
The then released version is 2.0 and contains 25 additional missions using
some of the new plane types from AEP.

With Regards and greetings from rainy Germany,

Thanks for the update Huxley. I am eager to see this here in the US. We have so few 3rd party products for FB here. Operation Barbarossa is the only one I remember actually released here. Even for me to get Battle Over Europe, I had to order from JustFlight in the UK.

Note for English version of Windows downloading: instead of downloading to Programs/Ubisoft/Il2FB, my download went to a new folder named Programme/Ubisoft/Il2FB. I had to move the files in the Programme folder to the corresponding folders in the Programs folder, but the effort was worth it, if the first two or three missions are any indication.

Very immersive.

cheers
