Is there a patch anticipated for AEP? I was under the impression there was going to be a new patch with new planes, among them a B-25 (non-flyable) that is printed on the CD jacket, but does not exist in the game.

Patch -

My patch is patchy and patched.

there is no patch like home

even though this is a 357 Magnum and can blow your patch clean off at this distance.. you gotta ask yerself one question... do I feel patchy??... well ?,.. do ya, patch.

gentlemen... this patch is about combat.

Ask not what your patch can do for you.. but what can you do for your patch..

heres the deal - you must have carnal knowledge.. of a patch this time.. on the premises.

this is a target rich environment - even you could get patched in a place like this.

Funny... I heard someone say something similar about another club yesterday, although this one is much more exclusive http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif - the "*o*d" club to be precise. and you have reproduced the phrase almost verbatim http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif except replacing "*d" with "Patch" LOL! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

In case you wonder what "*o*d" is well the first word is the opposite of "yes" and the second is what you get music on... you know, the shiny 3 inch bits of plastic..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif

But of course I never said any of the above

The tracer fire in that game vid is a function of designer cluelessness, IMO. The wiggly nature of tracer fire in guncams is due to camera vibration, not an inherent trait of tracer fire.

I'd live to see tracer ricochets, too.

LOL. Im not a fan boy I just found it a funny sig. I buy what is best bang for buck for me at the time. This time it was the eVGA 7950GT 512MB. Which rocks btw. I have owned several ATI cards. An old 9500 and two 9800pros, X800GT. Ive owned several Nvidia cards as well. Like the TI 4600. ATI has piss poor open GL support and Nvidia has bugs of their own. But I tell you one thing is this 7950GT eats FB/PF up. 100 fps in perfect mode with 4xAA and 4xAF. Gotta love that and this card can be had now for under 300 bucks.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

tater </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Here we go again. That is utterly a false assumption. I have seen tracer fire when my brother and I bought some 5.56mm tracer ammo at a gun show. We were coming out of the woods
one evening and it was quite dark when we were up near the house. We both had our AR-15 semi-autos and he decided to shoot some of the tracer ammo into a hillside back towards the woods. He gave me a couple rounds for my rifle and we both shot some. Some of his tracers wiggled quite wildly, just like as is common in guncam footage of yesteryear. My rifle fired both rounds perfectly. There are several things that can cause rifle rounds to travel like that, especially tracer rounds. Camera vibration has not one thing to do with it. This "vibrating camera" myth has been circling around for years and has acheived urban legend status.
Three things that can cause wobble of tracer rounds.
1.) Vibration of rifle/mg barrel ( not the camera. )
2.) Hot and/or worn barrel ( this was common in W.W.II as guns barrels could literally melt if the pilot held the triggers too long.
3.) Uneven burning of the phosphorus coating of the tracer, causing the round to wobble/spin around.

If it was the camera, then the image of the enemy aircraft, other objects would be blurry, but often they are very clear. Why would the cam vibration on only affect the tracers in the film??
I mean think about it for a second..........

If it was the camera, then the image of the enemy aircraft, other objects would be blurry, but often they are very clear. Why would the cam vibration on only affect the tracers in the film??
I mean think about it for a second.......... </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I just watched a pile of guncams on youtube. The woblly tracers were all on wobbly pictures. Didn't see a single one with really wobbly tracers and a steady target.

Saw quite a few corkscrew smoke trails.

Tracer rounds definitely have screwy ballistics, but to attribute the bizarre motion shown on many gun camera movies to the actual path of the round is silly.

A tumbling round at 1000m/s will stabilize boattail first after 1 turn, usually. Even if it tumbled the whole way (which would make it utterly useless give the decelleration involved aerodynamically), the round would very closely approximate rotation along the trajectory of the round if it didn't tumble. That means the phosphor trail would vary around tha path by roughly the length of the round, which in the case of a .50 cal is about 2.25 inches. So if the wobble of the trail left looks much bigger than 2 inches, it is impossible for it to be the round itself. Imperfect phosphor would result in "wobble' on the order of the bullet diamter only, so 0.50 inches for a .50 cal.

Anywhere near the muzzle, it's virtually impossible for a round to tumble, and they'd have corrected that right away, since it would make the round entirely useless anyway.

It's the camera, sorry. (unless you think the aerodynamic forces at 3000ft/s are vanishingly small).

BTW, the gun vibration/wear is certainly correct, but the camera (in US planes) is bolted to the wing next to the guns bolted to the wing---the entire wing, and indeed aircraft vibrate from the firing. That would show relative changes in the position of tracers, not make them wobble insanely since the bullet is only free to have any extra force exerted upon it instantly at the muzzle as it leaves (until then it is constrained by the barrel).

Note that in the case of shooting your AR-15 (I have one as well, never fired tracers with it, though), you neglect the fact that your EYE is also in motion.

There was no phosphorous "coating". The phophorous was contained inside the bullet in a holowed out base on the bottom of the bullet. It is natural for the smoke trails to have corkscrews or vortices caused by the aerodynamics of following such a fast moving object. Have you ever followed a car that was spewing some kind of smoke from the exhaust pipe. It never comes out in a straight line. It is always messed up by the turbulence caused by the moving car (and hence the turbulence behind it). I would love to see better tracer smoke in the next installment. And yes, bullets will wiggle when the gun barrel is heated or worn down too much (ie. extended firing periods). Gun barrels can only fire so many rounds before being replaced or those bullets will wiggle and accuracy will suffer.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I'd add there is another camera related factor involved when you say there are movies you have seen with fairly steady target aircraft, and wobbly tracers. A tracer is in effect a bright point source to the camera, while the target is an extended object. A slight movement of the extended object will not be nearly as obvious as the movement of the bright point source since even a single "pixel" (call anything the same scale size as the tracer diameter a "pixel") on either side will clearly wibble visually, while a plane many hundreds of the same "pixels" wide will only apparently move a couple %.

Add in parallax???the tracer rounds are closer tot he camera when first fiored, so you'd expect to see more apparent motion when close tot he camera, lessening as the round goes downrange (which is what you see in all guncams). The wobble on some (like the He11 attack in the game vid) is HUGE right out of the muzzle, something only possible due to virbration of the aircraft over some macroscopic range. A few feet from the muzzle, there is just no way a round moving 3000ft/s is corkscrewing around its flight path by 3-6 inches.

Reading the other thread, it's assumed there may be a translation error in the update on the main page and they meant to say the manual is in English language only.

However, don't quote me on that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
