In my old IL2 folder I had several skins for most if not all of the flyables in game. For some, I had 10 or more skins.
Sooooooooo wth? All of the servers I fly in now dont allow or suggest you turn off skin downloads.

Will this ever get fixed so we can start working up a foam about skinning the planes?? Othewise is an extraordinary waste of talent to bother skinning the planes
thanks for the rant, I promise not to bring it up again.
p.s. I even made the "list" with a historical CZ winter skin on the old IL2 site. pffft /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Well, I use the skins to make offline missions and campaigns in the FMB. The default skins are rather cartoonish for my taste, and there are many lackings.

I skin because I enjoy the challenge of improving my craft. If others can get enjoyment out of the final product, then I'm very happy. Myself, well would you believe that I hardly ever download or use skins? Outside of detailing campaigns or custom missions with them, I don't think skins are really all that useful anymore, especially online.

If only the skins could be compressed for online transfer, then things would be better. Otherwise, not many people seem interested in using a low res 512 skin.

I love the pre-packaged skins for the BF-109F2/F4 and the FW-190A4. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif The Heinz Baer and Walter Nowonty are the best.

Once the online dynamic campaign generators really get going plan on using many in the missions with buddies. All it needs is for them to place the custom ones in the folders. Great stuff for running into veterans and aces with duded out markings, adds to the mission experiance.

A 'good' landing is one from which you can walk away. A 'great'
landing is one after which they can use the plane again<center>

Yeah oleg needs to hold a skinning competition, and let him enter 4-5 historically accurate skins for each aircraft of top quality into the the sfs.

He also needs to redo the way skin dls, have the plane skin load up when the map is switched when skin dls are on, right now there is noway to turn off pilot skins or regiment skins.

I rather wait a few extra minutes on loadup then to see warp from skin dls in the game

One of the previous responder wrote that he like the default 109F2 skin, among a few others. I hate that one ( F2 ) the most!! With the darkest of the two shades of green and that particular shade of yellow on the nose, it looks like it was painted in a John Deere factory!!! It always reminds me of the John Deere tractors I grew up with as a kid on a farm. The paint scheme looks weird on a plane....lol

It ain't no extrodinary waste of talent for all them wonderful fellers to do the skins, and they don't cause me no lag. I use em for me single play campaigns. Don't play online so ya'll just keep them beeeutiful skins coming. Gimme gimme gimme...
