Hi i'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post but i am a complete newbie, not just to the forums but also to flight simulators,

anyway i bought il-2 FB recently but i have never played the the first game,
well i am having a bit of difficulty with the options, it seems that with the exception of carreer mode i cannot start a game via take off, even though i have it lit up,
so i am unable to practice this feature,
ie; when i start i am already airbourne,

any help would be appreciated thankZ.

Welcome! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Try some single missions. They usually start on the ground.

In Quick Mission Builder you can never start on the ground. But in any other mission -i.e. Career or Single Mission, you only have to switch that difficulty option on. If you want to practice without interference, learn and make your own practice mission with the Full Mission Editor. It's easy if you read the manual -usually a *.PDF file.

I think your refering to q.m.b., not sure why but you can't start a quick mission from any given airfield , seems to be airstart only which would put the quick in q.m.b into context if you get my drift' .

For me and most others i'm sure q.m.b. is mainly used for testing and and evaluation of capabilities of different aircraft .

You can 'host' a game locally.

Pick a dogfight map.

After it loads, you can pick a base.

This is nice for practicing taking off and landing.

At least that is what I did the first time i bought the game http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

ok thanks for your replies,
i'm sorry i was mainly refering to the QMB and the single mission game with USA,

i have just retried the others and your right i can take off with them but not the USA,
is there a reason for this ?

If I'm not mistaken, the P-47 mission starts after a long flight from Italy to Hungary,so a good portion of the flight would be long and boring. You start the mission when your group gets in proximity of the target.

If you download and install UQMG (Uber Quick Mission Generator) http://www.uberdemon.com/index2.html it allows you to start on the ground

Plus you have a lot more maps to chose from and options.

As soon as you have done everything you can do in FB, you should use Uberdemon's UQMG and also Il-2 Manager.

These 3rd party apps are a MUST for every Il-2/FB fan.
