In SHII the key for crashdive was "c" and if pressed by accident we could crash dive by mistake.

Could you please make crash dive or surface the boat a multi-key function?

CTRL C Crashdive
CTRL S Surface the boat.

Simply give us the ability to change the key settings and everyone will be fine.

I like to play in the dark, and the 'C' for crash dive is right between 'X' (Bring view to target) and 'V' (Return view to center). I don't hit 'C' as often as I used to, but I agree: 'Ctrl-C' would be better.

I made the same mistake some times......making an accidental crash dive..........

A programable keyboard will be so better........

In example I would like to have the dive planes and rudder controls in the 4 arrow keys......

I thought it looked mouse click driven on the vid. it might be an f key.

anyone remember the card key overlay you got with elite for the keyboard, that would be good

Crash dive in SH3 would be a 2 keystoke anyway!
Don't forget u have to "tell" the lookouts to get below, before sounding crash dive stations, or their moral drops like a brick... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

Nice touch though!!

I hope they will give us the option to bind keys. I have 2 programmable keyboards. My main board is a Focus 8200 keyboard and the other is X-keys programmable keyboard. I use the X-keys 52 button keyboard mostly for the driving of my Uboat and Q,W,E,R views. Somehow while typing to someone in SHII chat or doing something else my finger gets freeky and finds C for crash dive. In SHIII maybe crew moral would suffer if we make mistakes like that for needless constant crash dive and surface actions.

For me these mistakes usually happen when I'm in a hurry. Maybe best way is to bind all keys if possible. This may be best also for handicapped people as well. My neighbor is handicapped and he wishes for SHIII to be voice controlled or at least custom key'ed so its easy for him to navigate.

Thanks all for your support on this topic so far.

With the "seemingly" complex crew management system in SH3, voice activated key commands would not only reduce delays, but further enhance the emmersion experience.

I for one, would fully endorce such a feature..

That depends. If it's an alarm, then they should automatically go below decks sliding or jumping down the ladder quickly (they don't want to be the last one in the bridge, so they won't have to close the hatch). If it's an ordinary submerge operation, the captain would say "Klarmachen zum tauchen!... Einsteigen!" or "Ready to submerge!... All hands in!". The Watch Officer may also sometimes say "Einsteigen!" instead of "Alarm!".

It was said by the dev' team...somewhere, can't remember off hand, probadly in the Q&A section,or one of the online chat Q&A's, but i distinctly remember the dev' team saying that u need to clear the bridge lookout crew "Before" sounding a "Crash dive", as apossed to a standard surbersion.

U wont loose any of the crew, they will go below autonomously, but if the player does not issue the command 1st, their morale deteriates.
Of course this may not make it to the final version, but its what was propossed.

If the dev team gives us the ability to configure keys then we are to blame for any mishaps. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

On reflection, I would think the Watch Officer shouting "ALARM" would have the effect of clearing the bridge automatically.

I play the multiplayer part of SHII mostly and always seems to happen to me in the heat of the battle. Lucky for me I survive most of those moments but unlucky when I loose some of my air stores. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
