I play FB almost exclusively. My question is, is there any decent tank sims out there?

You might want to try Steel Beasts, the most realistic modern tank sim out there (afaik). It's not a high budget game though so don't expect too much graphically. Pretty hardcore.
It offers the M1 Abrahams and the Leopard 2

If you want a WW2 sim you might want to have a look at Panzer Elite.

I'd love to buy a good WWII-era tank sim, but those seem fairly scarce at the moment. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

The award winning Panzer Elite is a bit old now, but still a good sim. It puts you in classics like Panther, Tiger and Sherman. Mods for other WWII tanks are available.

Just imagine, a true "Simulation" akin to BF42, that might combine FM of IL2 and tank sim even better than BF42 or CoH.

I do not know of any true "Tank and infantry" sims that go beyond CoH or BF42 and their ilk, however. The big problem with a tank and ifanntry sim, is it will lack a true "High Command." That kind of theoretical game would have 2-4 guys moving game peices, that would be US in tanks! We may follow orders and be forgotten units on the battlefield! Still, it's certainly the direction wargaming is going.

A league situation, where proven battle commanders chosen by ladder, could actually have guys in tanks and infantry at his command. Somthing to imagine for the future. Such a game would be more like a MMPORG, and have the crying babaies and gotta go shopping problems you could imagine!

My favorite is the Combat Mission series (it's more a top-down view strategy though).

The latest I´ve played was M1 Tank Platoon 2.Pretty old but still duable.XWW2 mod to BF1942 has nice tank warfare,if you can deal with that it´s not entirely realistic.

I can vouch for Steel Beasts. I load it up every now and then just get my rocks off and put some rounds down range.

I like the combined arms teams, and ability to send out a complex set of orders, and view the battle feild.

The M1-A1 is really sharp. The game is old, but it's a hell of allot better then the trainers at Ft. Knox.

The only thing is, Steel Beasts is such an acurate simulator that most players will have a real hard time learning it with actual M1-A1 training. Not only the tanks systems, but manor in wich they were designed to corrispond with fire commands. It's real easy to fire off a sabot when there's a heat laoded, and vis versa.

Theres been allot of work going into steel beasts 2, although its not sure it will ever be released. They got some really models in progress, and the new engine will simulate barometric pressure, temprature, and the Earths rotation, so now you get your data from batallion HG, and enter the data into the gunners computer.
Hopefully they'll make the mission builder more freindly to.

It's old, but I love the level of detail in Panzer Commander. Not detail as in graphics, but detail as in gameplay, documentation, etc

Yah, "Sabot Up!!!" I play Steel Beasts anytime I want to see a poorly rendered field littered with fresh Soviet Scrap Iron. The sites are awful, but the sound, the kick, the feel, whew... there's money to be made with a good update of that one, trust me.

I believe Steel Beasts 2 is slated for release at some point.
