Does any one have a BFG Technologies GeForce FX 5900XT OC 128MB DDR AGP Graphics Card? and if you do would you recommend it.

I Have
1) pentium 4 2.53Ghz
2)1024mb of DDR 266 ram
3)Windows XP
4)not sure if I have 4X or 8X AGP slot
5)current card is Ti4200 128MB ram

I think I would be wasting my money going with a Geforce 6800 card with the system I have now. I can get the Fx5900xt for $229. If I go with a Geforce 6800 I have to upgrade my power supply plus I may have to get a mother board with a 8X AGP slot. (How do I check what type I have?) Plus the extra money of the 6800.

Any thoughts of recomendations would be Appreciated. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The difference between 4x and 8x isnt that noticeable. How big a Power supply do you have? Are you commited to just Nvidia or are you willing to go ATI. A 9800Pro/XT or an FX5950(N/A on model, someone clear this up) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif will probably be your best bet. I have seen some great shots from both and frames are comparable. Go with what you want either way. I own a FX 5200 which is low end and I have an 800XT on order. Don't play into one sides better than the other. My 5200 has and is serving me well. No complaints on either.

Wait for more input before making you decision. You might find a good deal on ebay or some of the tech sites. Check out MagnumPC.com as well as the usuals.

Have a gainward FX5900XT golden sample and I am well pleased with performance-even this needs a good power supply - if I remember rightly its 300w minimum and happier above this.

www.firingsquad.com (http://www.firingsquad.com) has good reviews and uses FB in its benchmarks so check here.

Had radeons before and no complaints about these either but if you do change over make sure you remove all old nvidia drivers with something like driver cleaner- see www.guru3d (http://www.guru3d) .com

good luck
