Anyone own this? Is it really worth 300+ dollars? I now own a X-45 and am really not happy with it, it became loose after 2 days, does the cougar do the same?

The Cougar costs a serious amount of money, so you want to carefully consider before you buy. Loads of opinions and such at Frugal's Cougar world:

Also, look at the forums to see what users think of the product (both pluses and minuses).

IMHO, the HOTAS Cougar is fantastic, I have never looked back since I got mine http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

funy, I hear just as many bad comments about the x-45 as I hear good comments.

I just started using it...it is quite a change from the ol' MS sidewinder. Takes some getting used to...though having 20 some-odd buttons helps...no more pecking through the keyboard to drop flaps, etc

I've had the Cougar Hotas for about a week now and have to say I'm quite pleased with it. I was using a MSFFB with a CHpro throttle wich also is a great set-up. It took a little while to get the Cougar programed but that was because I did'nt read the book! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif The best thing would be if you could get your hands on one before you shelled out the cash just to see if it feels good for you. The stick is a bit different than anything else I have used. I don't see myself buying another stick for a long time now but I can see already that there will be some mods to be done.

Been run'n X45 for bout year and a half. Only problem I have is I keep wear'n out the hat switch's. But I have the 10 dollar insurance at Bestbuy so every 8 to 10 months I replace it with a new one for 10 bucks. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif cant do that with the cougar. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif S0 for the money ill take the x45.

Used the Cougar for about a year. In the end, I didn't like it.

Too much poor quality under the hood.

Got CH hotas and am delighted. I'll never buy TM/Guillemot again.
