Ok. I can understand that some, if not many, people are interested in "what if" scenarios and flying planes that never saw actual combat or only existed on the drawing board. I'm not one of them. Actually I couldn't care less if they excluded all prototypes (and jets too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/icon_twisted.gif) from PF and BoB.

But why not make it a payable addon? An addon with prototype planes, jets, and other stuff that were though up but never realized, perhaps a "what if" campain.. BoB is won by the germans and Russia stays on the "blue" side, USA is invaded with the support of Hitlers new built carrier fleet. Some german carriers and USA maps here!

Just some thoughs. This would make both prop fans (no pun intended) and jet jocks happy, possibly even get a few extra bucks to 1C. We know they deserve it =)

But it would split the community and many people would not buy the addon, making it a waste of time making these unusual aircraft that would not be modelled or even remembered by any other sim.

Forgotten Battles concept is mildly diluted by the presence of mainstream aircraft everyone knows about and classic maps like Normandy and Pacific (I'm not saying this is a bad thing!). But by including forgotten aircraft like the Bi-1 and I-185 and Go-229 the sim can return to its original concept.

Also, where else will we see these interesting forgotten aircraft modelled?

Why waste time and effort making free planes for a game when you can get paid to. Of course I still want the occasional free addon but a pack of "what if" planes and scenarios should be a payable addon, like AEP.

Then I wouldn't have to mind those pesky I-was-manufactured-in-one-digit-numbers-and-never-saw-any-combat planes http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

I posted a topic on this a few days ago and was shot down repetedlyhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/smileys-gun2.gif, its a very touchy subject.

The argument against an addon like this is that if developers spend time creating these aircraft, time will be taken away from creating aircraft that were historically important and existed. Also, an addon like this would be bringing aircraft, most of which never flew, into a historically correct game and thus cause all sorts of problems.

Personally, I am intrigued by "what if" aircraft and would like to experience flying them one day in a game made by 1C. (and no, MS:CFS is not an option!)

Weighing up all the pros and cons, the best way, from a gamers POV to solve this problem would be a standalone game, but as you said there are only "some, if not many" that are interested in these aircraft, so would an etirely new game be viable for a developer?. The realistic solution would be an addon/expansion/patch that brought these aircraft into an existing game, but then ofcourse the problems mentioned above would remain. The short of it is, its very hard to impliment something like this without a larger market.

The thing that is most important is that an existing game like BoB is not compromised. While I have a real desire to fly these prototype aircraft, it is more important to me (and I think everybody) that we can fly in a historically correct environment with all the neccisary aircraft, locations etc. That must come first and foremost.

Hopefully some sort of conclusion to this issue can be reached in the near future that satisfies everybody.

Yeah I'm pro-Luft 46 planes and what not but I don't think they should drop BoB or PF just to make this new addon

And I guess you're just going to invent all the different flight models for all those planes. I don't think it's very realistic to begin with. Although many of the planes look very neet, I don't feel te urge to fly them. So for me, no need for such an addon!

I guess you didn't understand me.

I do NOT want prototypes and what-if's in BoB and PF!

I do NOT want 1C to waste time and effort on such cr.. things.

BUT I can understand that some people do like these planes and scenarios. Therefore the devs could have one team concentrating on these planes and another team concentration on the historically correct http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif planes.

For FB they did all sorts of these what-if's so if they're going to make such planes anyway, why not charge people for them? That way we might even get updates more often http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And again; I don't want these planes for myself, I want the "regular" planes.

I'd rather have PF, a plane/map addon with the Mossie, A20, Beaufighter, Tempest V, Spit XIV, flyable Ju88 and B25 etc first. Planes that made a difference.

Just wonder, what if someone at Ubi interested in making planes that harry_klein showed in his posting... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

NOOOOO!!!!

Aren't you guys sick of 109Z's, Me163's, He162's, Go229's, YP-80's, BI-1's etc already? There are SO MANY planes that are extremely historically significant that are NOT made for FB some of which Mondo mentioned that should have top priority over Luftwonder aircraft.

I used to be with you but since it's happened already I've kinda fallen into the 'what ifs' camp. I'd really like to see the Flying Flapjack in action http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
