Anybody here use thumb joysticks, like those on Xbox game controllers? I'm thinking they might be ergonomically better than the standard hotas setup. Plus there are controllers with 2 thumbjoysticks so you can use one for flight control and the other for view control. Also these gadgets have a lot of buttons too.

I'm forced to use an analogue gamepad right now since my motherboard stopped cooperating with the Sidewinder.

Don't even bother.

They make a good secondary stick for NewView/URGear emulation but that's about it.

The only way I can really fly is to turn down sensitivity on all axis so the max is about 50%, the travel is just too short on them. You need to constantly re-trim because holding them in exactly one spot for any length of time is going to give you RSI or arthritis at least.

Great for GTA or Tony Hawk or emulators, but total crap for sims.

I don't use one normally but have tried IL2 Sturmovik using one at a friend's house. IMHO, it sucked. Give me a joystick any day.
