Need Help!

Current Situation:
Try editing an existing skin file with simple paint program. After making small changes to the skin file, I saved it as a BMP file.

The Problem:
After the save, I go into game to view my changes. But the edited skin DOES NOT show up.

Is there a mistake I make in the process of editing the file? What must I do so that my changes can be seen in game?

Check to see if you saved it in 256 color. IL2 doesnt take 16 or 24 bit.

i would try to get a copy of photoshop if i were you- it gives you the choice automatically to save in the appropriate bit size etc ....and is much much better for doing skins

as for your question - sorry i don't know how to do this with paint.

i think you just select "save as" from the file menu

then when the "save as" dialog box comes up select "256 color bitmap (.bmp)" from the file type box underneath where you enter the file name.

n.b i think the edited file HAS to be exactly 1Mb for it too work as well - so check that too (although i don't know how to change it if it isn't)

again i would recommend getting a copy of photoshop from a friend or something if you want to do alot of skinning /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

1) select "save as" from the file menu

2) when the "save as" dialog box comes up type in the name of skin you want to save it as, and select "256 color bitmap (*.bmp*.dib)" from the save as file type box underneath the name box

i just tried this in mspaint and the skin showed up in FB
