Does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive joystick that has a two position trigger?

The Cougar has a two position trigger when the Foxy software is enabled, but I am looking for something cheaper.

Under optimal circumstances I would like to see a stick that had a trigger for the index finger and another trigger for the middle finger below it, if that makes sense, though I have absolutely no idea if something like that exists.

(and any links on building your own joystick would be helpful too come to think of it)

That was the only feature I miss on the Cougar. I switched to the CH setup, but I can't figure out how to program a two stage trigger on the CH. I end up putting all the guns on the trigger, but it's a waste of ammo sometimes. I pretty much have to get close, and use short bursts.

The Saitek x45 has a trigger type button for the pinky finger.Alot of people use that for the push to talk on comms.

U use X45's pinky trigger for MGs and index trigger for cannon.

go to ebay and look for thrustmaster old f-16 flcs or f-22 joysticks.

i'm using an f-16 flcs myself. first stage trigger assigned to machine guns, second stage to cannons + machine guns.

the x45 has index and middle finger fire buttons. I use them for mg/cannon.

S! Buzz,

Since the red "Button01" button is so high and out of the way on the CH Fighter Stick, I just use the lower thumb hat (the one that sits at about the same level as the trigger, on the side) pushed in towards the stick to fire cannons... Squeeze index finger, fire MG, squeeze thumb in, fire cannons.. Works ok for me, I used to do it the same way you do, but firing the cannon and MG on a P-39 at the same time is a huge waste of time :D

Yeah, on some planes it's not very good. I used to use one of the buttons on the throttle for the mgs, but now that I fly the P-51 99.9 % of the time. All guns on the trigger works fine.

S!

The X-45 by Saitek has a standard trigger (accessible by either your index or middle finger) and another button trigger that is accessible by your index finger (putting your hand higher up on the stick). It also has "A" and "B" thumb buttons on top of the stick.

There is also a pinky button (defaults as a SHIFT) button which you can either remap as a trigger or use it as a shift key for your main trigger (which is what I do). I have Machine Guns Only mapped to Pinky-Shift + Trigger and Fire All Guns (i.e., cannons and mgs) mapped to Trigger by itself.

YMMV.

On my CH Fighterstick I have the pinky button working as a shift button so when I press the trigger I fire weapon 1 but then holding the shift button down it fires weapon 3 while the button next to the POV hat fires weapon 2 and fires weapon 4 with the pinky shift button pressed.
