Name another game that is so well groomed by its developers (besides the pay-to-play titles).

1C is amazing in thier dedication to thier product, and I surely hope they set an example for other developers in the gaming industry: Do what you love, not what will make you rich.

Oleg, you are rapidly becoming the Carmack of air combat sims. Good for you.

Happy customer here. I've actually spent a few hundred bucks for this game (with stick, memory, donations, etc.) and I'm a cheapskate. They do a wonderful job.
They are very good at spoiling their customers (see the endless number of rant threads).

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/351.gif your sentimets are spot on, I couldnt agree more... we are a spoiled bunch, and it says a lot for the developers that they

a) are into it so much and care enough to want to keep developing for it
and

b) Bother enough to listen to us and act on our "suggestions" for immprovements...

although quite why they do given the ammount of whining/criticism/foot-stamping that goes on sometimees (waaah! I want... or Waaah! guns aren't strong enough/too strong etc) is beyond me LOL http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif . Mind you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif to Maddox and co for putting up with it - its one of the main reasons why we have such a great product to enjoy.

Darn, Baldie, let me get in on this too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Remember, all my Western friends, the concept of free market capitalism is relatively new in 1C's part of the world. Not too long ago, the incentive for doing a job well was, well, knowing that you did it well . . . a product or service that the provider could be proud of. Don't think for one second that just because Oleg and 1C are making some money now, that the attitude about the quality of their product/service has changed one iota from the old way that these new entrepaneurs were schooled from birth.

I predict that good times are ahead for Russia in the international economy, because they care about what they do in a way that most Westerners cannot understand. I can only imagine the confusion that Oleg must have, when after hundreds of hours of programming, the labor of 1C, as well as the third party models, none of which is the company obligated to do, just to patch this game with an ADDON, and a patch to correct certain issues about the game's claims on the box.

You are really getting two things when you get the upgrade:

1. A patch that corrects issues.
2. An addon that brings new material to the game.

Plain and simple, number two is the biggest gift to a gaming community that has ever been given by a developer to its customers. They do not have to do it.

They do not have to do it.
They do not have to do it.
They do not have to do it.

There, ya go. I get to post one of these rants at the release of every patch. We are spoiled rotten by a very nice, good, kind-hearted people. A bunch of guys, and gals who are having a taste of what we have always had: a free market. For the love of God, don't puke on them for being so generous.

Of the original fifteen commandments, five of which Moses dropped when he was angered by his people, commandment number 11 was:

Thou shalt not whine about the AEP patch.

And therefore, I am not whining. I am instead incredibly excited. MORE YAKS! I get to fly the Yaks, as they are Lilya's planes. I'm trying to be her disciple you know.

I just made an extended post stating the same thing in another thread before I saw this one, but it mirrors the same sentiments.

1:C have made a tremendous product and their enjoyment in its making (and playing!) are obvious.

I'm not a visionary, but will say that I (along with some friends) discussed how cool it would be to have this very type of sim over 20 years ago. We would sit for long periods of time and talk of the "virtual" dogfights and bombing runs and the planes we would fly.

Well...we have it now. In no small part to the people who had the same desire AND the skills to make it a reality.

I am thankful.

This isn't the end, but the beginning and I'm on this wave for the duration.

Salute! 1:C!

One of my daughters was just teasing me because I started the download 10:30 PM last night and its now 7:18 am and 86% complete.

She said this must have been the way you acted as a boy Christmas morning and she's right.

Because I spent a few samolies on their product Oleg and Co. have given me gift after gift. All I can give them in return is a big TY and a nod of respect. This Simm just gets better and better. It will never be perfect for all, myself included but its above and beyond what they owe us fans and that seems easily forgotten at times.

I'd give it up for greener FPS pastures. Of course, this is M$ we're talking about, so I expect they'll start strong-arming publishers into avoiding 1C altogether. Or, they'll try to create a new Industry Standard(TM) that will make hardware freak out whenever a plane model is loaded unless the model is digitally signed by M$.

Hi,

I like to play devil's advocate but on this occasion the sentinment is correct. While I think the main frustration has always been with respect to communication on when release dates are etc, I know that 1C do a sterling job, especially as they are clearing working on other matters (PF, BoB).

Besides, I only have to crank up CFS3, even with it's 'historical' modifications, to know that we have a star performer in FB.

Cheers,

Yes we're spoiled if u ask me(at least I am http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif---catch myself whining few times on this forum).

For all unhappy folks name 1(words=ONE!) game (all genres) with patch like we getting with IL-2 and you'll know I'm right... my intention is not point to endless praise to the IL-2 dev.team or game itself, but really we have great game, great patches, tons of objects & reality in-game beyond dreams and here we are whining about .50 cal., effectiveness of cobra's cannon, Mk108's also, bomber gunners etc...

Oleg&CO. gives us plenty A/C's in this patch, and really they don't NEED to do it (they only need to do the B-25 like thay promised http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)...

Take a GOOD look at the CFS3 or else Jane's, B-17ME or whatever other WW2 sim->alternative and their patches... and then feel free to comment this game & it's patches.

Thx again Oleg&CO.! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

Hi All,

There are twenty new aircraft, along with the usual assorted enhancements and fixes, in this update alone. I'm again delighted at the generosity and industry of the people who make IL2.

I don't feel that any of the prop sim titles I've followed since "RB I" and "Hellcats Over the Pacific" afforded anything like commensurate value.

And it's great to see a thread focussed towards the broader perspective.

Cheers,

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

I took the family out to the movies the other night $75.00 after admission and snacks. So...
$75.00 = 2 hr.s passive entertainment.

FB Approx. $50.00 = Thousands upon Thousands of hours of interactive enjoyment. Thank you Oleg!
Keep up the excellent work.
