As promised in this (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?q=Y&s=400102&a=tpc&m=817100684&f=23110283)
thread, I have enclosed four shots of my WIP on the LaGG drawing.

I think it has become pretty cool. Cyrillic readers will notice I messed up with the text -the bit meaning IAP should have been capitals, but it's too late to correct that now as I have glued the LaGG to the background by now already. *sigh*

However, I still think it looks pretty neat for an amateur like me... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I *really* should practise more so I can improve. I'm not drawing nearly as much as I'd love to do.

Thanks again for the assistance in the translation!

The basic layer to get the camo pattern and colors right.

http://mywebpage.netscape.com/JeroentjeNt/LaGG/LaGG-3_WIP.jpg
The LaGG is, save for a more bright red star (and forgotten underwing star!) done, the text on the background is still in the old-style and wrong.

http://mywebpage.netscape.com/JeroentjeNt/LaGG/LaGG-3_background.jpg
The LaGG is done, and I have just finished the background -note the mess-up with characters. Those characters were undoubetly the hardest to do, you need a really fixed hand for that!
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/JeroentjeNt/LaGG/LaGG-3_almost_finished.jpg
Ready to erase the aid-lines and glue the cardboard LaGG on the background. The LaGG is cut out of 3mm thick pressed cardboard and the process of cutting it out decently, was at least as hard as making the Cyrillic text...

==============================
Ah you LaGG, my lightened LaGG,
why don't you wish to fly?
Over the wild Black Sea water
your cockpit you made me leave.

Looks awesome! Paint the background black and hang it in a frame!

Nice one.

I'm awful at drawing. I spend most of my lecture time trying to sketch axis planes and I'm bloody hopeless.

Thanks for the kind words http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I don't think a black background will turn out nicely, because the LaGG itself is already rather dark. It *would* make an excellent contrast with the red, though! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Despite the character 'mess' I like it enough to frame it.

Want more...? I'm that not the much of a show-pony, but here she goes:

http://mywebpage.netscape.com/JeroentjeNt/Heinkel/he-219.jpg
First sketch for He 219, from a picture in Remp's He 219 book.
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/JeroentjeNt/Heinkel/he-219_improved.jpg
Second sketch -starting to look more like a 219! But not perfect yet...
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/JeroentjeNt/Heinkel/heinkel.jpg
This is the final state of it: while the sketches were DIN A4 sized, this one is on 60x80cm cardboard and when I'm satisfied it will be colored with acrylics, my favourite. Like used on the LaGG.

[EDIT] Don't like the nose gear and cockpit area yet. Maybe I'll make it a night scene and remove the gears and add pilot and radar-operator in the cockpit.
[EDIT]

IIRC I may have posted the early 2 sketches here before, but they were not on my webspace anymore so I could be wrong.

Thanks again for the kind words,

Jeroen

That last one is very very cool, you have the perspective down to a T http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif You work like i do, i do a sketch then crop it to get the effect i want, then work from that http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
