View Full Version : What would Hell be (funny or serious, either one)?

Ok, if you'll read my little story about my arachnid experience today, you'll see that, for me, Hell would involve spiders.

So, I was wondering, what do you think Hell would be like? This is open for lively dialogue - can be serious or humorous. Just, please, do not come in here all heavy-handed and say "only ignorant people would believe in Hell." This isn't theology, it's just a forum!

I did read a science fiction trilogy by Christopher Stasheff, in which one guy found himself in Hell temporarily, and it was chilling. He was totally alone. Even the Devil made only a brief appearance, then he was alone. Forever.

But, of course, being the main character and hero of the book, he didn't stay there /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

So, for me - being totally alone. With spiders. In the dark.

Brrrrrr.

Well, first, only ignorant people believe in hell... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

A stand-up comedian (maybe Jerry Seinfeld), contemplating the Christian version of a fiery abyss, asked, "Wouldn't you eventually get used to the heat? Sure it's hot, but I think eventually you'd get used to it."

Hell for me hell would probably be an eyelash stuck between my eye and eyelid when I'm trying to sleep, but then again one might eventually get used to that... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I wonder how many posts we'll get through before someone says "...no GR!" /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

LOL, Leep!! Yeah, I guess that might be, too!

I'll have to come up with some other answers later, but they actually expect me to work some here, for the paycheck they graciously give me /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

For a good description of hell, take the second test on this thread. Of course, this description is also in Dante's inferno.

Oh, and both the simpsons and futurama have made fun of this description.

Bucko, I may have to take slight issue with you on your comment that only ignorant people believe in hell. Uh, I believe in Hell- wait bad example/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Many, many learned people believe in Heaven and Hell. I recently saw a study that said, and I know i have this wrong, but i'll err on the light side, that over 60% of scientist are believers.
Many of our Presidents were Christians going from Old George, to Abe- to Reagan, Carter, both Bushes, and, If I wasn't so lazy, I'd go find some more. But, I finally got off my butt and decided to Finally at least try to write that Western that I have been threatening to write for ages. Crap, I forgot to tell Slack that's what I was doing. I was supposed to co-write another installment with him and our two respective -monster, goblin -creatures that go bump in the night- and under the bed slayer good guys. Slack- if you stumble upon this, forgive me for not relaying that to you.
I promise that I will devote some time to that project in the future, probably when winter gets here and I have many long , cold nights to stimulate this creaky old imagination of mine. Sry old friend.

Hell would be working in the kitchen of my work, staring at fine girls walk by, and me being covered in sweat and dirt, and 2nd degree burns, dressed in pin-strip pants and a fluff chef hat, making food for fat people all day.

Since i only work 6 days a week and not 7, i consider myself lucky.....and on June 21, i ship out to no longer be a civilian.....bwahahHAAHHAHA

My own personal hell would be complete and utter darkness and silence, where my voice didn't work and I couldn't hear anything anyway. But I think the ideal hell would be like the Little Nicky movie, where I could just hang out and listen to Van Halen.

I guess we all get our 'own' Hell. Not ONE place where we ALL go...

We all have our likes and dislikes, so what could be Hell for one, could well be less of a punishment for the other...

For example: all of you SM lovers out there would perhaps 'tolerate' physical 'things' in a different way than most of us! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But seriously /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ;

What do you love most? What is it, that you need most in life? What is closest to your heart? What is it, that you care for most?
That's what's you'll get when you go to 'Heaven'! You'll get your 'likes'.

What is your deepest fear? What are you afraid of most?? What gives you the creeps and goosebumps every single time??
That's what 'Hell' be like. You'll get all of your 'dislikes'...

If you would add to it that people are always talking about 'for eternity', it adds a bit of a twist to it...

All the things you love most. All the things you need. All the things closest to your heart. All the things you care for. If you get that for eternity, you'll hold out for a looooooooong time! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

But,...same goes for 'Hell' /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif ....think eternity isn't long?? All your deepest fears? All the things you are afraid of? All the things that give you the creeps and goosebumps every single time? For eternity??

That's what I think 'Hell' is like.../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

..now you all just figure out for yourselves how your own 'Hell' would be like /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ...

(Although I am sure that all of you, law abiding, clean-cut, well brought-up Forumbrothers will go to 'Heaven', so don't you worry now..../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif )

It would place people in situations that they thoroughly enjoy under normal circumstances, except there would be a catch. People who enjoy sex would have plenty of men/women ready to sleep with them yet they would be impotent or have some other issues. People that enjoy using drugs will have kilos of drugs yet can not get high no matter how much. Those who like to eat will have all of their favorite foods laid out for them, but it tastes like their least favorite.

Did the test and...........:

Second Level of Hell

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You have come to a place mute of all light, where the wind bellows as the sea does in a tempest. This is the realm where the lustful spend eternity. Here, sinners are blown around endlessly by the unforgiving winds of unquenchable desire as punishment for their transgressions. The infernal hurricane that never rests hurtles the spirits onward in its rapine, whirling them round, and smiting, it molests them. You have betrayed reason at the behest of your appetite for pleasure, and so here you are doomed to remain. Cleopatra and Helen of Troy are two that share in your fate.

Nothing mentioned about MY mother in law, so it can't be all bad! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
