Hey luthier I just wanted to give you a headsup about a skinner by the name of ATS 42.

This guy does amazing quality work, especially in the weathering aspects of skinning.

Hammered and sooty are really great skinners too, and produce some of the best quality skins in the community but everyone knows about them and Im sure they are swamped with work. ats42's skinslook almost like photographic textures.

I seen the dev shots of the b5n2 kate and wasnt to fond of the weathering at all or detail in the skin, the bottom of the aircraft looked descent and the tail stripes looked very good too how they are worn but the green work and rivets, scratchs didnt look great to me.

Im sure you seen many photos of aircraftin service during the pacific and noticed how severly weathered they are.

Send him a pm at il2skins.com maybe he would be interested in helping you out. I would really like to see some of his work in game as the default skins, especially for the p38f b24 b25 p40s and the japanese greens and off green/white on the japanese aircraft and bombers.

I havent seen any of his work in blue but im sure it would look just as good.

heres an example of his work if you have not seen it yet.

"note photo is an optimized jpg the bmp looks alot crisper"

Im also wondering if you decided what your doing with PF about the stand alone or incorporating all il2fb/aep aircraft and maps into the game so the community and aircraft are all in one place.

I'll second this emotion!

I have several of ATS's P38 skins and I would very much like to see some Wildcats in faded, weathered blue..as well as some Japanese colors by this skin artist.

Nice of Leadspitter to recommend him this largely. A great reference IMO. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The Weathering Police are on the Beat

Luthier1 please include non~weathered skins also cos in real life sometimes airplanes had no weathering just after construction or re~painting. Thanks

oh ya .... with over 6 Gigabyte of skins within my Paintschemes folder i can with certianty that ATS is a VERY good skinner

& for sure , Sooty & Hammered

Sooty has done THE MOST realistic bear metal textures on ANY skin for FB ive ever seen

the Default skins are VERY important ........

they are the skins we will see the most

& good point too LEXX

Leadspitter, I dl'd a P-38 skin from ATS42, and wound up getting EVRYTHING that the guy has up at IL2 skins. These skins are incredible (not dogging your work at all http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif )

I definitely second your motion, and a great big ole' bump for it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Same here tsisqua, in his screenshots you cant really tell how good the skin is, i dont know if hes taking them on low graphics settings or what but when you dowload the bmp you can really see the quality and detail. In the game with excellent or perfect mode they are absolutely some of the best skins out there.

Darn, I thought ATS42 was my personal secret. I have all his P-38s. He wrote me that he's not a WWII a/c specialist, but a graphic artist who finds this format interesting and challenging. But he does his research, and his work is outstanding. His weathering and aging touches are extraordinary.

I'd like to add my vote.
