When I submit a posting I get this screen that says something about a mandatory something and then I click go back and it loses my posting.

It happens when I reply to a posting. It doesn't seem to affect new thread posts.

This has now happened about four times.

I'm logged in when it happens, OK http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

A minor bug in the forum software results in that message if there are any "hidden" formatting characters or charactes not in the forum character set (the Euro symbol for example) in your post.

Using the "Quick Reply" button instead of the "Reply" button (the little yellow folder icon next to the blue "Reply" folder icon) avoids the bug.

You will get this alot if you are trying to copy and paste text from another place . . . you either have to identify and delete the "unfriendly" characters (as was mentioned you won't always see them because the are hidden . . . bummer), or you have to retype the entire original document. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Not quite. Copy paste to notepad and save as a text only file. Close notepad, reopen the text only version and copy paste from there. This dumps the hidden characters and sends only the raw ASCII to the reply box http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Ahh, the TullMeister to the rescue http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Man, if only I had known that . . .

I have tried to paste into notepad, then to here, but never tried saving, then closing, the reopening.

Thanks, Tully
