Ok all you ATI guys out there. Is there a major difference in quality. Between these cards. I can clearly see the MSI one has a larger cooling system. But what else??

MSI's card

TOAD, I'm darn close to making this step as well. I'll be following this thread to see where it goes.

I've got a Sapphire and have good success playing FB on DX. I overclock my 98Pro to XT specs, can't do it OGL. I think they're all about the same and I would go least expensive. To be really picky, I'd like MSI.

I just recently got the ATI 9800 Pro.
I was running a GF4 4600 128 before.

The screens look alot better with more vivid colors, but I still can't get good frame rates with perfect settings. I have 1GB of ram but I think it is more a limitation of my AMD 2000+ CPU.

Sorry that doesn't probably help much to make your choice, but installation was flawless and driver installation went without any glitches.

Now it just makes me want to upgrade everything else to see what it will really do. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

The X800 will be shipping very soon. It looks to be priced the same as the 9800XT. That means the 9800XT will drop in price at or very near the same time. Waaaiiiiit just a little bit longer.

Exactly!

That's what I'm (very unpatiently) waiting for! I would have ordered a R9800Pro a few weeks ago, but I'm waiting for this large price drop to come. Today a PowerColor R9800Pro costs 1995 SEK (a few months ago it cost over 3000). When it's around 1700, I'll get one!

I bought an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro last Friday at our local Frye's for $179.00 (no rebates needed). They were running a one day special so I bit the bullet and upgraded. Definate improvement over my old GeForce2 MX card. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I got a 9800pro from PowerColor. It was well priced, but more importantly it has the 2nm memory chips instead of the 2.3's on all the other cards. much better for overclocking !

Am gonna wait too, for no other reason than I have no time/cash at the moment. Have spotted a 9800 pro 128 for 129.99 all in, which until I got broadband (and a few other things http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) had my name written all over it... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif however once I get the funds back up, I will be back in the market.

Well with the patch out I imagine this one will fall pretty fast again from the front page. But one I make the decision I'll bring it back for ya.

Thanks for the help. Had seen the Power color ones. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-131-213&depa=0

They are all around the 200.00 mark. SO I guess its down to crunching time.

Going to get some extra cash this week pulling a tranny from a 96 Mustang Cobra Its stuck in gear.

So one of these little ladies is going to get taken out soon. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Anymore help please post!

agree. ATI is going to stop selling 9800XT as soon as X800 will be on the market.

Check out newegg.com They already have X800 in the stock. Price is $445. Despite of this fact 9800XT still cost $400.

Yeh Steve I asked about it on first post. Have you used it? The way I read it it is 199 for the card if you send them your old one. Heck as I said before I got tonse to send in just to clear off the bench LOL Sort of looks like it might cost more to do that when you include shiping. But not sure.

Yes I agree the X800 would be nice! But I have a 4x agp ti4600 and am wanting ot get more involved in the screen shot stuff and movies. Mine just dosen't hold up in comparison. And one of my starch rules is never pay over 200 for a vid card.

The 9800 will get me there and when the X800 progresses to the PCI Express then I might just do a mobo upgrade along with it then.

Well I just broke the piggy bank! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

Just got done ordering the TIR3 pro, and the Ati 9800 pro 256. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I caved in big time. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

First time I have ever spent over 200 on a vid card. I know I know could of got the 128 cheaper but I figure since PCI Express is on the way in I might aswell max out this Mobo till then. Then Upgrade to it when it comes out, and has been tested true by the public. I payed $263.00 total for this one. Its OEM 1 year warranty, then maybey I'll do the mod to make it an XT if needed.

This is my first ATI of my own http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif Sorry Nvidia.
