drives me nuts.. I'll be flying over the spot telling myself I am not insane (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif) and that the map references that set of woods, that river and just north of whatever city...I must be looking at this map upside down...? And I thought I was the only one http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

You should run OpenGL so the adjustments will begin under [Render_OpenGL].

Sky=1
Forest=0 <~~~~~~ here is tree detail
LandShading=2
LandDetails=0

I think the LandDetails at value 2 is for excellent. Value 3 is perfect but from my previous experience setting it in the config still doesn't activate it. Only the in-game setting when clicked on perfect will establish the best land detail.

hmm i tried changing landdetails to 3 but it turned on the perfect water too, I thought there was a way to just have runways and trees on perfect but water off

This is rather odd.

TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0

This option is still in the conf.ini but the option is not available anymore in the setup.

In cofig.ini the line is "Forest=0"

Change that value to a higher number - IIRC "3" is the highest.

From the 1.21 patch README:

Changes and fixes in graphics: Perfect mode

- More realistic render of the water.
- Tuned the shades of the sea water.
- Eliminated chroma error of the water on ATI video cards (with disabled subtitles).
- Removed sun reflection artifacts on NVidia video cards with S3TC enabled.
- Improved visual appearance of the trees.
- Added an option to place better looking 3D trees in the towns and villages.

Notes:
For the new trees to render it is required that: you video card has no less than 128 Mb of RAM, and BIOS AGP memory (Aperture Size) set to no less than 128 Mb. Recommeded video cards for the option are GeForce 4, GeForce 5600 and newer, ATI Radeon 9700 and newer.
To see the new trees in towns:
Make sure you‚'re running the game in ‚ėPerfect‚' mode. In the ‚ėconf.ini‚' file, in the section ‚ė[Render_OpenGL]‚' change the following line:
Forest = 2
to
Forest = 3
To disable the trees and return back to normal appearance, change the parameter back to 2.

Yes, 3 is the highest, but for some reason if you do that without perfect settings in the game, you will have trees growing out of some bridges.

"forest=2" is what I usually use.

but not sure.
