Hello,

I'd like to request that the Ju86P-1/P-2 be added to the upcoming Battle of Britain sim. The type made numerous recon (Ju86P-1) and bombing missions (Ju86P-2) from very high altitudes over Britain in 1940-41. The Ju86P remained in service until 1942. Also, you could make a Ju86P-1/P-2late with fixed aft-firing MG17 for the Mediterranean add-on in 1942.

Cheers,

I've always kind of liked the Ju86's looks. In any case your top pic is of a pre-war Ju86E which was used as a training aircraft and transport during the Stalingrad airlift (not really relevant for BoB).

The lower picture is a Ju86G-1 which was a front line aircraft in poland in 1939 but they were replaced almost immediately.

The Ju86P had a totally redesigned nose section very long wings and high-alt diesel engines see http://www.geocities.com/pentagon/2833/luftwaffe/reconnaissance/ju86p/ju86p.html and http://www.letadla.cz/pict.php?cpict=299&lang=cz for details and a pic.

This type is historically significant enough to be added to BoB at least as an AI aircraft

Yes but that was in late 1942. The Ju86Ps were retired in 1943. The Ju86P had been in service for 3 years by then. Uninterceptable for 3 years...That's a record few planes can claim.

*bump*

For some bizzare reason, Ju~86 was my favorite German bomber when I was a little squish. Would love to see this Flyable Ju~86 bomber in the 1939 Battle of Poland BoB addon CD that will be releaced (Oleg:: "be sure" @ simhq.com).

Ju~86D belly gunner gondola would be sweet...

Once two pilots from 12 GIAP, Edik Nalivaiko with an high-altitude Yak-9D and Lionia Samohvalov with a Mig-3U http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif , succeeded to get 1 km close to a Ju-86, without reaching it. Nevertheless, after that, such flights over Moscow were stopped.

The Ju86P-1 was a bomber. The Ju86P-2 was the recon variant. The Ju86G-1 could be used in a Poland bombing campaign for a couple of weeks but the Ju86P could be used at any time between Feb 1940 and Mar 1943. After that a Ju86R-2 bomber and Ju86R-1 recon could be used until the middle of 1944.

In 1941 the normally unarmed Ju86P got an MG17 or two in a stinger position in the tail but they were otherwise unarmed. The ventral dustbin style gun turret you like is from the Ju86A-1, Ju86E-1/E-2 and possibly the Ju86G-1. These are all pre-war variants.

I have always liked the Ju86 but I never expect to see it in a computer game like IL-2 since it is kind of a "forgotten" aircraft. With BoB and Oleg's attention to detail I might finally get my wish.

Cheers,

In Belgium they have one Jumo diesel engine coming off a '86 IIRC; it's really amazing, not because it's a diesel, but it has 2 cranckshafts!

Really fancy design, but don't know how it's service performace was.

I just had a thought. Do the Spits we have in the game now enough performance to get up to 42000 feet?
