If you access the bonus section on the Revelation site and look carefully at the night landscape, you will notice that in the lake there is a sort of track... does this mean that we will use some riven-esque roller coaster? I really hope so!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

If I hadn't read it on this forum, I would have never noticed there was a puzzle to solve in order to gain access to it! I thought it was a link to be added in the next days http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/353.gif up there guys!
Back on the subject of roller coasters... I think it would be awesome if there was one... but I doubt it. And if they do have one, they'll have to be careful that they don't get repetitive with Exile. The Exile rollercoaster was cool, but I think if they duplicated it in any way there would be a feeling of: "Ok, Ubi's running short of ideas." Anyway, what you see could just be a transportation system, like the ones in Riven. And Myst. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Phen, don't worry so much about people going off-topic. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Actually, they're not off-topic very much as they're asking about where this is located. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If you guys go to the main site, do some mouseovers and watch the D'ni letters. Do you notice anything happening? Do you see something change? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

And I hope there ARE some roller coasters! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Umm, if there wasn't a "roller-coasteresque" aspect to Myst4, I think I'd be disappointed. Every Myst game has had some sort of car-ride.

Myst - Selenitic end.
Riven - duhhh (it's full of 'em)
Exile - Amateria
Uru - Okay, I don't think Uru counts, but we did get to ride in that little bucket in Teledahn. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

That underwater rail is one of the first things I noticed about that image ximo. It would be great if that were the "coaster" of Myst4, but it occurred to me that it may be some other sort of water-way transportation, like a passenger barge on a track. That area to the left of the "rail" looks kindof like a dock, and I notice what looks like a crank mounted near the edge.

It's all speculation mind you. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Among "roller coasters" I also include the "flying ship" of Voltaic... and why not the ending of Edanna too? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Oh yeah! How could I forget the balloon-car of Voltaic?! That was great. I was one of the few who had no idea what that thing was until it inflated. Looked like a giant dried seed pod when I first saw it and I couldn't shake that image until you know when. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

And... maybe... if we're all lucky, and the developers were sufficiently wasted... when we're on the water-tram an e.egg wud be avail. to make a hippo head burst out of the water and a tour guide would appear just to shoot at it.

Nice speculations guys. I must say Amateria had the most Rollercoaster-y rollercoaster of all, and I don't think that they should make another one like that. In Exile it really WAS a roller coaster, while in the others, it was just transportation not created for entertainment, but it entertained anyway.

Max wants to see another Amateria type roller-coaster!!! >_<
So, I don't agree, but yeah, I don't think I would approve too much if they did make it look to much like Amateria's. Ok... I'll just shut up now and stop contradicting myself.

That's very true, Phen. It was practically the next ride to be unveiled at Six Flags. I wouldn't really want to see another "ball on coaster tracks" again, but I definitely want some unneccessary loops and heights. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

If you look real close ... the track does appear to be coming out of a cave.

I have very much enjoyed the roller coaster type rides ... especially the Riven wood cart and the Amateria roller ball effect. I was one of those that saved my game just before I solved the last puzzle ... so that I could ride agehn and agehn. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Perhaps the ending has not yet been written

That Amateria ball ride was great. I love transport rides in 1st person.

That maglev in Riven really wasn't a maglev. It was a cable car. What I'd like is a real maglev vehicle in the game. And more maglev devices.

When you meet Gehns acolyte in that underground area (he's dressed in white and he's got that book) and he runs out to the meglev - if you get there quickly enough behind him, just before the meglev leaves, those arched pieces that rest on the cables lift up and sort of hover over the cables before it shoots away.

That's one of the things that I really liked about Riven. Depending on how quick or slow you were, you could see different things, making the game a little different each time. Like differences in how close you could get to the sunners, or when you saw the little girl, or if you saw the acolyte take the maglev. (However, I didn't like the combinations that changed with each playthrough. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

I'd like to see more of that kind of thing in future Myst games. Say, on one run you get a key piece of info from a hermit in a cave, while another time you get it from a woman in a forest. Or maybe some of the puzzles are replaced by different ones on each run. This would increase the re-playability of these games tremendously. (I love adventure games, but they really do have limited re-playability for me. Once through for the puzzles and once or twice for eye candy and easter eggs. That's about all I can manage.)

But changing puzzles also detracts from history and story. You can't say, remember that time the woman in the forest said

"What woman?"

Oh, I'm sorry, you only played it how many times?

"5"

Oh, see, this was on my seventh time. Oh well. Remember when Sirrus said...

"Funny, I never heard that. Good quote though."

Sorry, but I don't think i would enjoy that.

I saw two things that could be classed as "cool rides"... and that was in a tiny portion of the game... so if there's an even distribution of cool rides over the game, I think we can expect LOTS of cool rides.

Of course, those could have been the ONLY cool rides. What do I know?

Edit: just looked at Adric's longer gameplay footage, and realized I'd forgotten something. Make that THREE cool rides! (Number may vary depending on where your "cool" threshhold is http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )
