The P-47N did see combat in the Pacific, and there are at least two aces, who scroed all of their kills in the N

It does belong.

I'm hopeing to see both the P-47N & P-51H in PF, both operated in the Pacific.

Dude, we gotta have the Corsair. She's one of those classic aircraft that almost single-handedly represents the air war in the Pacific...at least for the Americans. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The Corsair is a must...... Not having it would be like eliminating the Zero.

I heard the F4U will most likely make the first patch.

I am still working on the P-47N ATM. Hopefully it will make it into one of the two games. Although this seems like the most obvious choice.

Thanks for the link Angelus. Looks like the Corsair could be a contendah!

The screenshots on the link are promising. Seems to me Gibbage was posting the Spit and P-38 about six months ahead of AEP. Maybe that's a hopeful sign. But the modeler appears to have a time issue. I wonder of there are other resources to deal with the cockpit, DM's, etc.

hey how about a f4u-4 corsair!! and all american a/c modeled on 115/150 av gas since there are other a/c in the game modeled on it. isnt there a navy test somewhere on the f4u-4 that gives it a 470 mph speed and 4770 climb rate. oh well I guess I should go away now.

That would be the FG-2, which never went into service AFAIK. But several prototypes did fly, and it was looking up to be a kick-*** low altitude performer.

no I am not talking about an fg 2, I am talking about a f4u-4. you must be thinking of the data that used 100/130 av gas which gives the -4 a top speed of 445-450 mph and a climb of 4,000 fpm. I am talking about using 115/145 av gas in the -4 and over boosting the engine to give it a top speed of 470 mph and a climb of 4770 mph. I will post at another forum and get the chart. I no longer have it because it was on my old hard drive that died and I lost all my a/c charts. my point being if some a/c are going to be modeled on 115/145 american av gas, then all the a/c should be modeled on this gas providing that there is data around for it.

Simply dumping 115/145 fuel into a F4U-4 isn't going to make it climb faster. It may give it the capability of flying longer at full power before detonation begins, but it doesn't automatically increase power. In order to get more power, a modification has to be performed to increase manifold pressure. I'm not sure that was done in the F4U-4 test that produced a 4,770 fpm climb rate because the horsepower ratings given are the same as standard ratings on 100/130 grade - and so is top speed - 452 mph.

There's no denying the F4U-4 climbed fast. There's a chart out there showing an initial climb rate of 4,000 fpm but manifold pressure and fuel grade are not given. I've got another for the F4U-4C showing 4,400 fpm at 60" hg, which is combat power on 100/130 grade fuel. And then there is the chart showing 4,770 fpm on 115/145 but with an unknown manifold pressure.

I'd tend to go with the F4U-4C chart since it is most specific about manifold pressure.
