Watched track of a final match of competition in China. The one i watch was taken from Vics' comp. I was amazed how fast and steep he climbed in BF109-G6. I noticed that he was constantly switching from auto pitch to 100% pitch back and forth like every second. Is this allowing to climb that well?

Manual prop pitch lets you go over 3000RPM which provides optimal climb rate.
Auto is good only for diving so the pilot doesn`t have to change pp every second.

In the 109, 99% pitch will make you overrev and (in 10 seconds or so) blow the engine. But if used in short bursts like he does, it gives you that extra bit of power.
