Take an existing mission or create your own and add the names of the AI planes to the area called 'Born Places' in the .MIS file for that mission.

(all missions have a .properties and a .mis file, you will be editing the .mis itself)

The born place should be easy to find, there will be one per airbase created. The naming of the AI planes usually matches what you see in your skins directory...so however the plane is listed in the skins folder is what needs to be typed in the born place.

I'm sure someone will post a list of all the AI planes here, this question has been asked before.

In AEP, any changes to the .mis from the FMB will erase the AI, you will need to go back in and manually readd them to the .mis if you make changes in the mission builder. Basically adding the AI is done after the mission is completely finished in the FMB and is done manually by editing the .mis.

Remember that you will need external views enabled on the mission with AI in order to fly them...there is no cockpit and so all flying is done from external view.

You will also need to select a regular flyable plane first, start your engine, then respawn in order to be able to start an AI planes engine.

If you select an AI plane first, either you won't be able to see your plane from external view or your engines won't start properly until you select a regular plane.

This happens evertime a mission is loaded, so if you are rotating missions, you will need to select a regular flyable everytime the mission changes.

Hi,

I love flying ai-planes, most of my online maps have them enabled. So here's a description of how to activate them:

First of all: You can only fly them in dogfight games and only in external (F2) view!

You'll need a simple text editor ('notepad' for example). Edit the '.mis' file of the mission you would like to fly ai-planes on.
These are located in the folder \IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\Missions\Net\Dogfight\1 (or \2,3,4,...)
I'll use the following example for further description:
'\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\Missions\Net\dogfight\4\01_DF_mount.mis'

Scroll to the bottom of the file. There you'll find a section saying:
[BornPlace]
2 1500 13334 40159 (0)
1 1350 40661 35037 (1)
1 1150 30293 38940 (2)
1 1250 30338 24934 (3)
1 1200 37772 20110 (4)
1 1000 24043 18336 (5)
1 1300 17701 16885 (6)
2 1250 7621 20678 (7)
2 1450 11868 27036 (8)
2 1100 17392 31399 (9)
2 1500 18450 37953 (10)
2 1200 26172 33395 (11)
[Bridge]
[House]
(I added the numbers in brackets, they will not and must not be there in the real file!!!)

Born places are the bases from which you start in the game. the first number defines the side (red, blue, ...) the last three give its coordinates on the map. You can define which planes are enabled for each base. To do so add the following text:

[BornPlace]
2 1500 13334 40159
1 1350 40661 35037
1 1150 30293 38940
1 1250 30338 24934
1 1200 37772 20110
1 1000 24043 18336
1 1300 17701 16885
2 1250 7621 20678
2 1450 11868 27036
2 1100 17392 31399
2 1500 18450 37953
2 1200 26172 33395
[BornPlace0]
I-153M62
Il-2I
[BornPlace1]
Bf-109E-4
Fw-190A-8
[Bridge]
[House]

The number 0 in [BornPlace0] sais its the first base in the list (counting starts with 0, that's why I added the numbers in brackets above). After the [BornPlace0] entry you can list all planes that should be available on this base.

When you are finished just save the file and start a dogfight game on this map.

IMPORTANT!!!
When you FIRST join the game you MUST USE A NON-AI-PLANE! Otherwise the ai-planes won't be able to control.
When you use Full Mission Builder on the map you edited manually all AI-planes will be deleted and you HAVE to re-add them with the text editor.

And finally: the (almost) complete list of all planes (they should explain themselves)

You can simply insert this list (with the [BornPlace0] line) into your mission file as often as needed, just change the number in [BornPlace0]. In our example there are 12 bases so you'll have to add entries for [BornPlace0] to [BornPlace11].

I hope this will help you and my explainations ain't too difficult.

I'll be online for about 6 more houres, so just ask in this thread if you have any problems. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Have fun

The Gladiator won't work with this list, only the J8A.
The V1 is not a 'plane' so you can't add it here as far as i know http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Thanks a lot Zen-- and a specially Sana_HvJ!!

I just wanted to ask about that...

To try float planes was my old wish...

That is magic of IL-2...After 2 1/2 years, there is always something new to try and enjoy....

Thanks a lot guys! Now, I'll see if I can do this...

To get a complete ordered list of all the planes, just use good old DOS http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

goto

Start
Run
type cmd there and OK
now a DOS window appears - change directory to the Skins folder
CD program files
CD ubi soft
CD il-2 forgotten battles
CD Paintschemes
CD Skins
then do a dir command like this one :
DIR /B /SN *. > C:/planes.txt
EXIT

You are now back in windows, with one file richer (planes.txt in the root dir on C: drive)

The produced list of all planes looks like this :
