View Full Version : Those Who Came Before - What are your thoughts on a high technology past?

The First Civilisation has always been one of my favourite parts of the Assassin's Creed universe. The concept of a high technology past in the real world is truly fascinating, and the Ancient Astronaut theory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_astronaut_hypothesis) is very much one of the key inspirations for our game world version - except ours are not aliens (as far as we know). They both share the concept that humanity was created by a higher technology civilisation though, the main real world equivalent being the Annunaki (https://en.wikipedia.org/?title=Anunnaki)who were revered as gods.

I'm sure many of you have seen the TV show Ancient Aliens, and whilst the majority of it is hyperbole, they do sometimes present some interesting sites and theories.

For example, many real world civilisations have ancient references to sky gods. These people supposedly had access to flight, and taught our ancestors technologies and theory. In the AC world we even had parodied references to them in AC3 and Rogue. Places like the Nazca lines are fascinating, as they were clearly designed to be viewed from above.

The architecture of the First Civilisation is also very similar to many ancient temples and pyramids, featuring the same sharp edged lines that are quite distinctive.

Having played the Assassin's Creed games, what are your opinions on the possibility of a high tecnology precursor equivalent within the real world? Did the games introduce you to the concept? Or is it all rubbish? :D

My view, it's a fascinating subject and I make no claims to know that much on the real world theories. Whilst I have an open mind, I have not yet seen/read anything that is a smoking gun, as they say. But who knows, perhaps beneath the oceans there is the remains of Atlantis. If there are any real world high technology sites they are most likely underground, and probably either buried or perhaps hidden behind the army bases of the varied governments of the world.

Beware the rabbit hole, for it is deep.

E.

I believe in other things higher than us, Aliens.

And why not? It's very close minded in my opinion to think that we are the only species to do what we do.

Nah man, we're special.
Especially me.
I'm a special snowflake.

It is really interesting and I enjoy the whole story that they use... However in real life I personally take the route of my personal religion. I believe that before humans came the earth was with Jinns who still live with us but we can't see them. They are shapeshifters. Also if you look at all of humanities theories and beliefs of other creatures living with us you will find they all have similarities of the Jinn. Even Hindu gods are to be believed as Jinns by some. One other thing we believe is that Jinn like to take the forms of reptiles and the main idea of how Aliens look is reptilian.

I know we are not alone. No matter what other things there are.
