I am sorry if this topic has come up before, I am in a bit of a hurry so I do not have time to do much searching.
I purchased the IL2 STURMOVIK GOLD PACK. (IL2 Forgotten Battle packaged with the ACE Expansion.) I am not sure what updates I need to install to bring this combo up to date or what order to install them in. If someone could provide me with some file names I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
TopGunSF

I don't want to steer you wrong.

Current vesrion is 2.04

Tully gave the correct installation sequence a little while ago (there was some confusion at one point about it)

If you do a search on this forum under Tully's name, you might find it.

Or he might even reply, he usually scans the boards for questions like this

Install FB then the AEP (Both are in the GOLD pack). That should bring you up to FB 2.0. Then go here (http://www.il2sturmovik.com/games_elts/fb_updates.php) and download first patch 2.01 then 2.04. That should bring you up to date.

IL-2 FB Gold = IL-2 FB + Ace Expansion Pack

OK
Install IL-2 FB (2 cd's)
this is V1.0 (if you run a game offline you will see version in the lower left corner of the splash screen)...
Extended manual is on CD2 btw...
Now install AEP (1 CD)
Now version will be V2.0
Get patch 2.01 and 2.04 from http://www.3dgamers.com/games/il2sturmovik2/
- if you don't have 56k then don't use UBI - they are too slow - the bottom two patches in the links you need http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif -
Install 2.01 (V2.01 now)
then 2.04 (V2.04 now)

ready 2 fly http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif AFTER you run setup
start-proggies-ubi soft-il2fb- setup
under network set connection speed to 56k (no matter what you have), port to 21000 and select a numeric IP when the choise is there (one of them should work - "default" NEVER works) - dont't ask me hehe

Well - after this - happy flying online

DO NOT install over V1.22 - that's asking for trouble...

Question: Did you back-up your files?
Answer: I didn't know they had a reverse...

Pacific Fighters is coming later this year. It is stand alone, but if you have FB/AEP you will be able to install it as an expansion, making all FB/AEP aircraft available in the new PF maps and vice versa.

Thanks for the help, the game is running fine and so far error free. The update number on the start page is correct. Does OpenGL normally work better then DirectX, my RADEON 9600SE seems to like it about 20 FPS better.

OpenGL is the "native" API for Forgotten Battles. The Direct3D one is for compatibility with cards that have no OpenGL ability...its actually a wrapper so it takes the OpenGL calls, converts them to Direct3D and then displays the graphics. So its an extra step and you can sort of see how it would be slower.

Still, if what you have doesn't support it, then its better to run that way.

On a 9600, take the OpenGL. No contest.

So everything in Pacific Fighters will be availalbe in FB and vice-versa? Although Oleg hinted at that in his post he wasn't clear about that. (at least to me)
This is great news! I can't wait to use liberty ships and Higgens boats to make a more realistic looking D-Day invasion!
