If you get bored using it on your monitor you can go outside and fry ants. Probably at least as much fun.

you see them a lot in plans for homemade cockpits .. they are actually used in some of the more basic commercial simulators as well

often the monitor is laid flat on its back behind the "dash" and the image reflected through a mirror then a fresnel.

the use of the fresnels to get a continuos display out of multiple monitors on that linked site is interesting .. i havent come across that before

Ya this looks very interesting to me but Finding a Good Glass Fresnel on the net seems to be very hard http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I need one for 21" monitor

I wonder if this is a fresnel or not ?

P.S. On a side not I spoke to someone who uses one of these devices on a 15 inch monitor

he said it magnifyes it x2 so thats 30 inches

also it adds depth

"your looking through the screen.....not at it"

Sounds like a winner to me I wana try one

Locust....both Gau and Vagabond from teh 310th are using it on their monitor. Both of them love it. I built one for my 19" and for me it's so so. I can't see all of teh screen unless I look "inside" teh box. It adds a sence of 3d to teh game. I think it would work well on smaller monitors. I'm still playing around with it. If you want to try it I can send u good instructions on how to build it. It's not hard at all and for only 10 USD it's cheap to try.

apparently they can give you 'tired' eyes and headaches if you use them for prolonged periods. i'd love to give it a go, but frankly i'm too lazy http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
