Ok, ok, OT I know. If you mods could just let this go for a few hours so I can get some feedback I would really appreciate it though.

Hi everyone.

For those that remember me from the old PL, I would ask a favor. Especially if you know how to design web pages. If you could click on this link to a web page I just created and tell me what it looks and what i need to do with it. I am just looking for a place to post pictures, so I can put them in my posts. However, every time I try to go to this site I get the Webmaster view. What I want to know is, when you go here, can yopu see all the edit options on the left or just the pictures?

Now, these pictures are just a few of the best and funniest I saved from the old PL, so be prepared to laugh your arses off. YOu may even remember some of them. I know SmokeJag enjoyed quite a few of these. Thanks!

Here's what not to do:

[EDIT: I forgot the smiley /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif the first time, and this is a legitimate webdesign site--gotta love the name]

Thanks for the link, that is actually quite helpful. I am using a VERY simple web page design software thing from BellSouth right now. I am having trouble making it do what I want, but I am clueless about HTML, so i have no choice but to use this design software they have.

There are two more pictures if you click "photo album" on the left side of the page.

If you have a copy of MS Word 97 (and probably newer versions), you can create a document with pictures, then export them to HTML file format.

Also, I find the Netscape Composer HTML editor is pretty decent--it is bundled with the Netscape Navigator web browser. I use it to tweak webpages that I designed using MS Word 97. Composer has WYSIWIG/Preview modes, and an HTML code viewing/editing mode.

"I am just looking for a place to post pictures, so I can put them in my posts."

Clarify, please.

1. You are just trying to make a place to 'store' pics so they can be 'linked to' for forum posts...

2. or, you want to creat a web page AND a pic stroage area?

BTW, what's with the depressed kitty, wanting everyone to die? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

To go ahead and answer #1:

Make a folder in your web space/storage area, like...

(NOTE: Ignore the quotes above and below. I put them there so this web page would not try and link to the non-existant folders.)

or whatever proper path you have to use.

You may want to distinguish a folder by what forum you use.
If you use the same pics in different forums, then it would be to your convenience to just put them in one folder.

Then just link to the pic, such as...

There are still many resourses for writing HTML. Do a Google search. As mentioned, with Word, you can write a doc then convert it to HTML. I have not used Word Perfect, or any other such programs in a long time, but those will it/others will probably covert their text to HTML, also. You may want to do a search for a free WYSIWYG editor.

EDIT: Oh, is that a squirrel? I saw the Kung Fu kitties and did not really look at the 'die' pic.

Thanks for help guys. I can handle Word just fine, I think that will be the best way to go about this. Any way that I can do the same with Publisher?

Yes, #2. Not very clear in original post, sorry.

- EDIT: Oh, is that a squirrel? I saw the Kung Fu
- kitties and did not really look at the 'die' pic.

The problem with some of these pictures is that they are not in "context". When posted umpteen months/years ago in the PL they related to whatever was being talked about(as you can see, no wonder the PL was closed/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ). the squirrel had to do with a Forum member, and it was very funny at the time. The kitty... i dont remember, sorry. I just picked a few random pictures, i should probably take that one off.

The sonofa***** pic is my favorite though. Even the Mods found it amusing, and they could be a tough bunch back then.

Once again, thanks for tips, i was very confused at first and just needed a nudge in the right direction, S~

Publisher is decent for beginers. It's ok for doing wysiwyg designs. It's is not the most robust thing out there for doing it, but doesn't sound like you need all the bells and whistles.

Here's the deal...

Some programs, like FrontPage and CoffeeCup let you do code. That is type it, or insert bits of it. You see the gobblede**** code which is difficult for some one to see and read if they are not familiar with it. It lets you preview a page but moving pictures around and getting it to look like you want is difficult.

Programs like publisher let you control graphic and text content very easily, however they lack some code basics like counters, timers, etc.

I use Publisher to creat htm, html files and then use front page or coffee cup to finnish it off and clean it up.
