Nah they aren't trolls, they just like to voice their opinions http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And p1ngu666 a troll? No way, he just sees the funny side of things sometimes http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

WUAF_Badsight gets a little frustrated from time to time and can be a little over-zealous.

Stiglr finds things interesting the rest of us realy don't..

Leadspitter is an experten, who takes no chit.

ASH my fave line from that movie is...

Is there an alternative ending to that movie?

I have a version where in the end he wakes up too late in the future. But I seem to recall seeing a version where he gets back home, and then at the very end he is at S-MART and that witch comes back, and he shoots her.. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Well, I can't vote for Stiglr. I agree with him too much for that.

Badsight? usually makes valid points...whether I agree or not (and he's fun to fly with/against)

ASH? hmmmm....I can still remember the days when he was a vulcher extraordinaire and would wing with Aviar and Dove_of_peace to define "vulching" But I guess this has little to do with that...or does it?

Similar to politics, I voted, but I did it in secret so I'll keep it that way.

Gate, you troll you.

I don't think any of them are trolls. None start threads with the intent to draw attention unto themselves knowing it will create a high response and/or flames. Sometimes I have wondered about Stiglr but he's still genuine most of the time, certainly not a troll in the classic sense and he always makes his point. LeadSpitter, Badsight and p1ng666 don't draw any unusual amount. Ash does for different reasons like it or not.

Yes it would appear that the Wake up in the future version I have is the directors cut.. I kinda prefer the other one.

Also if my memory serves me right, at the end of the original version, when the witch comes back, he says, "yo she b1tch, lets go!".. but in the directors cut he says it earlier in the movie, like half way through when the witch first appears..

Or maybe im dillusional and imgaining all of this.. its been a few years since I saw the original version.

It seems obvious the author of this poll doesn't know what a "troll" actually is.

It certainly doesn't fit me. Although I may not shy away from opening a raging controversial discussion, and I certainly am not shy about making my opinion known, I don't post "just to stir the sh** pot"; I have a POINT to every argument I make.

A troll merely thrives on controversy, real or manufactured. RayBanJockey would be a good choice for "troll". Or that annoying English guy who got banned from different forums under dozens of aliases (although, he usually had a point, too; it was just that he was so rabid and profane in expressing his views). Those are trolls.

Some seem to think that because one holds an unpopular view or opinion, he's automatically a troll. Not true. These people need to realize that everyone has an opinion and is entitled to it. And, most important, that opinion doesn't have to be lockstep with YOURS.

I would have nominated Bearcat to be a Troll...

Original question asked by me -

"Who are the tuskegee airmen? Did they even do anything?"

His reply -

"but I find your post to be insulting. I find it to be insulting because most of the guys in this forum know some of the contributions made by the Tuskegee Airmen and even if they didnt know them all to insinuate that they did nothiong which your post does is just plain old bull$hit at best and the same type of ignorant racist insanity that has only served to weaken my country since it was created. "

I never even heard of the tuskegee airmen til I read his sig, and PMed with such harsh language.. like I had insulted his mother, or something...

XyZspineZyX
08-25-2004, 01:34 PM
Well, Joystick,

"Did they even do anything?" is a little challenging in tone coming from somebody who is by admission, ignorant of the legacy of this group.

You might have just left it at, "Who were they? Why were they famous?" or something like that.

No one you have listed is a troll. They all are opinionated, outspoken, gruff (I plead guilty to all of the above, as well) but not someone who lights the fuse on a bomb and runs and hides just to watch what happens. THAT is a troll.

The term doesn't come from the trolls who live under a bridge. It comes from the bait you drag in front of hungry (and not very bright) fish.

Trolls are people who start stupid threads, which none of these folks does.

Threads like: "What is the best...(fill in the blank: airplane, joystick, etc.)? Or. conversely, What is the worst?" "What is your favorite?"

Or, "Who is a troll?"

Right?

I'm not in that list, because I'm too handsome to be a troll. I rather be a mix of an elf and a gnome... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

But, wait, maybe I'm a troll: I petrify partially when I'm in the sun. The strange thing is it only happens in nudist beaches and swimming-pools... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

However, I wouldn't define those comrades as 'trolls'. I'd rather say they're mostly a little too easily 'flammable'. They're precisely 'troll victims', sitting ducks for evilish trolls. For example, look at this:

(example of troll post):

Troll: "Stiglr, I've heard Oleg is to stop including all those boring prop fighters, and start working in cool 1947 what-if projects such as Bachem Natter and so... What do you think? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif "

(example of troll-victim reaction):

Stiglr: "(Grrr) I'll conspicuously ignore your iniquous assertion and bla, bla, bla... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif "

BTW, this post converts me into the troll... I say, elvish-gnome of the year.

Quote Megile "WUAF_Badsight gets a little frustrated from time to time and can be a little over-zealous."

Quote Thunderbolt "Badsight? usually makes valid points...whether I agree or not (and he's fun to fly with/against)"

Wrong question, now if you ask for least favorite, that's another story. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

Stiglr. He doesn't stir up it's true ... I think of him as a troll in the classical sense, lurking under a bridge angrily waiting to tirade against the unwary.

I enjoy his posts, poignant, strong opinions, rending assunder packs of intolerable fools like an enraged axe dwarf. I love the tone of righteous indignation but best of all the fearsome visage which is his avatar picture, chin up, defiant, as though saying "Are you going to bow to the correctness of my words, or are you going to start me?".
