I did just one campaign in Stukas. It´s quite effective in dive bombing but once you have fighter opposition you´re in trouble, if you ask for help your squadron mates will dogfight untill the end of times or untill they are all shot down. I strongly suggest you start a campaign at least as a major to cope that and other issues.

Warning: never choose the G model in campaigns, flawed AI low flying routines will make two thirds of your staffel crash in the way to the target.

"Stuka Pilot": aside the fact that Rudel was a hard core Nazi, the book is a very good reading.

IMHO the Stuka is a very stable aircraft. Its slow in climbing and speed, but it is slow in dive too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif (good to control).
When looking for some aircraft-trainer (learning trim, advanced engine-settings, etc), I'd go for the Stuka. Its great for learning all steps from engine-start, takeoff, climb, maintaining altitude and heading, descent and landing (nice view thru the little-window below the seat).

For fighting: bad choice .. early war maybe, when not to many russian fighters would show up .. online sometimes fun when in COOP and the fellow fighters really work as escort. Its very vurnerable and will be ripped apart by any russian figter and the MG is a joke. But for a "bomber" it has an amazing turn-rate.
On DF-maps with ground-war you can get some ground-kills with the G-version, but you have to be sneaky http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

G-Version, best way to kill tanks: line up, dive very short starting from 1000-1500m (everything above will make target-recognition impossible), dive in steep angle from behind the tank, aim for the tanks rear and then one shot should kill the tank.

"Stuka Pilot" by Rudel, part of the War and Warrior series, the autobio, is an OK book. Do NOT confuse it with a large, blue coffee-table sized book of the same title by an author named Just: that book is basically a photo book, and a wee bit on the "glorification of Naziism" side.

As for Stuka flying in IL-2, check this out:

Divebombing in the Ju87 Stuka (http://www.naysayers.com/9jg52/stuka/sturz.htm).

I would never recommend fighting in it, although against a stupid, overconfident early war pilot, you may have a chance. I've turned table on a few, but it's more due to their stupidity than my skill that you can actually manage a kill in a Stuka.

w/e, if it bothers u so much I dunno why you'd bother reading/replying to it. I guess I'll make sure not to bring up questions about IL2 aircraft in the IL2 forums...

I replied to it because you posting a new thread on every single plane in the game is getting on my nerves. That's why I replied. I guess it makes more sense now huh? Feel free to ask questions but why don't you 1) not ask how to use every single plane in the game and 2) do some experimenting on your own and learn planes yourself. Isn't it more fun that way? And I'm sure any questions you have will be answered by the search button as well http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

At least its not Hollywood 1944 internet dogfighter plane.

If 686 posts about CR.42 tactics it would be like whole new webboard. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif
