What plane have you guys found to be the new best overall fighter on the axis side since 1.1b?

I think it's the 109G-2. The 109G model was said to be the best model of the 109. Maybe the devs did something right for a change.

A-5, and personal preference G-6, has best visability for late G's and the twin 13mm's with the 20 is a real winning combo. Burn half your fuel off and your like a G-2 with attitude.

K4, crippled a bit but just as deadly

The Bf-109F4 and G2. About the K4, i think it has had alot taken away from it but its more deadlyer then before. Altitude and energy is a must now for K4 pilots if you want to come out of a fight alive.

Didn't flown too much axis since the patch, but the dora seem to be a bit better, But I alwys prefered the G2. Now ht K4 fells a bit Klipped, but is still good. Anyway I almost exclusively flown a Romanian P-39Q1, so this one is the best axis plane till now /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I think I've noticed a couple of differences.

For later models, I like the G-6/AS.. used to feel really light and would seem to climb great.. engine seems to be more fragile since patch.. and I'm sure the FM's are different.. G series seems to tear the air a lot more and I've stalled them so many times.. they're not as forgiving as they used to be..

I wont say better or worse.. but seems different and will take a bit of gettin used to.

I've never flown the FW190's since FB. To me, they seemed to be unfairly crippled at their best speed.. maybe their FM has been opened up a bit.

The 262 obviously.

Perhaps if we split up the dominant plane by year there'd be more use in this poll.

The 109's may be the better pure dogfighter, but I still like the new 190's.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.

Buffalo... what a plane... CRAP CRAP CRAP.The good part is that stalls rarely, but the weapons seem to be useles. But I'm saying that after I got used with 20 and 37mm cannons, so I may be a lill subjective...

Posted by Whelmed : they're not as forgiving as they used to be..

Nor was the real one.

The G-models onwards suffered form progressively worse handling characteristics as engine power and armament went up, with corresponding increase in weight and threfore wing loading all in a 1935 designed airframe that was smaller than that of the Spitfire. The airframe ended up overpowered and developed vicious handling traits. It didn't tolerate 'pilot error' well.

General consensus is that the 109 peaked with the F models which had a nice balance of performance and handling.

I've taken a liking to the BF109-G2 actually, kind of half way between the Fs and the later Gs really. I'm also enjoying the Fw190s more, A and D.
