Out of interest.

Will PF have the same radial and inline engine sounds as FB? I for one hope not. My personal pet peeve with the IL2 series (and I don't have many because it's the best entertainment I've installed on my computer) is the sounds used to represent the engines. They are awful. Rolls Royce Merlin... how many restored warbirds are there out there with a Merlin in them... quite a few. Maddox Games should send someone out with a recorder to get that engine sound right. The sound used to represent it now is just terrible. Pratt & Whitney engines power many of the PF American aircraft. I hope some effort has gone into getting that one right... and if so, replace the P-47's FB sound while you're at it.

It would be great if PF could accomodate 3rd party sounds if the developers don't plan on adding any new ones. Mea****er... where for art thou?

Regards, Goshikisen.

That's funny... apparently the profanity control is ultra sensitive here. The asterixed word is not meant to offend... it's Meat_water. Any EAW folks here would be familiar with his excellent work.

Gosh.

Agree.

The one thing I liked with CFS3 was actually the sounds, a bit more beefy and grunty than IL-2.

Heads-on firing was not a safe practice after all ?
Jussi Huotari: It was not specially recommended‚.....
And later, as the Russians were armed with 20mm cannons, it was unwise to meet them heads-on

I think they take a mix od lawn mowers, radio controlled planes and the whining sound made from these forums.

Have any IL-2/FB/AEP sounds actually been sampled?

I thought they were all synthesised to sound "like" the actual engines and are made up of a number of separate sounds on different channels.

While lots of people are not keen on them, the sounds do have interesting distance effects, effect with speed and neat occulsions.

To get back to the original question, it would be nice to see some more engine sound types, although I don't expect we will see individual sounds to each plane.

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - G√ľnther Rall

You got it pal..Take a recorder to the WARBIRD area, along the fence, and get ready to hear some of the most beautiful,(authentic) sounds of liquid and aircooled engines starting up for the p.m. airshow. I for one, would like to see Olegs sound crew spend about half their payroll getting the sound/s of cranking engines a little closer to reality. The EAA Warbirds as roll models would be the greatest place to start. Have you ever experienced the cranking and firing of a P&W 2500 hsp engine with the cowl flaps vibrating, and 120wt oil smoke pouring from the exhaust? You havn't lived until you do!!!!

They sample it from Il2/FB http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The "whining" sound of the forum must sound like a Vulcan Cannon http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The first time i heard it I thick it was a Cow or something, nothing "rata rata rata" like in Movies http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
