I set up a little drag race coop to test a sampling of the faster FB airframes.

Turns out that each aircraft has a maximum allowable speed that can be input for a waypoint in FMB:

Aircraft Max Speed Allowable in FMB
Me-163B-1a 1000
BI-1 1000
Go-229A-1 977
P-80A 900
Me-262A-1a 845
He-162A-2 838

Ta-152H-1 752
Bf-109K-4 720
P-51B 703
Ki-84-Ia 687
Fw-190D-9 late 685
La-7 680
Yak-9U 680
Fw-190A-9 660
P-63C 656
Yak-3 656
P-47D-22 650
Spit MkIX LFCW 650
P-38J 647
Bf-109Z 630

The Me-163 won in the jets, Ta-152 in props, as advertised.

Acceleration is one thing that changed the outcome on my short (approx. 2 minute) course.

For example, P-51 actually beat the 109K because it got up to speed faster.

Before anybody asks, the setup was:

-All 20 aircraft lined up for airstart on the new "Empty1aWinter" map (is that 9 or 9a winter?).
-500 meters, all aircraft set to red army, maximum speeds input for waypoints.
-Lanes marked by balloons with fires marking halfway and the finish line. Static cameras at finish.

I'm not making claims about capabilities other than what's here. If you need a plane-by-plane altitude-by-altitude comparison, see IL2 Compare (v. 2.4 is latest?).

(Head-to-head drag race from standing start on a dual runway is next...where's that 'christmas tree' starting lights object? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif)
