View Full Version : RAF Campaign, with DCG - How?

Could anyone give step-by-step for using DCG with the Extreme RAF Battle of Britain campaign?

I have the latest DCG installed, and I can create British, US and German campaigns, but there does not appear to be an appropriate campaign folder for the B of B. Nearest I can see is France 1940. What's the best method? Has anyone created the appropriate "Master Mission File" as described in the documentation, or is there any way of deriving this from the campaign as provided.

Thanks in advance, Tony S

Tony: I believe the instructions are with the BoB Campaign, but it's possible to be a bit confused. The actual Battle Over Britain campaign is stand alone, but contains files which can be used to create a United Kingdom campaign within FB using DCG. I think, though, that you must use the 'Replace DGen' option to have this work. And what you get is a UK campaign only...the BoB campaign is stand alone.

As I no longer use DCG to replace DGen, though, I cannot vouch for that...it is just what I have read elsewhere. I haven't checked to see if the UK campaign is available while using DCG to externally generate campaigns - however, the Readme from Extreme One and Poymando's BoB implies that using the Replace option is the only way.

I can accept being confused, but the instructions seem to miss a step out. When running DCG, one the first options is to select a "Campaign Folder". There doesn't seem to be one suitable for the BoB RAF campaign. The instructions with the campaign don't refer to this step at all.

I should say that I have DCG running OK, and it can create other campaigns, where Campaign Folders are supplied.

IF you are using DCG as a replacement to DGen then you can miss out the step you mention.
Just select "* RAF Fighter" as a career option and DCG and FB will do the rest.

If you're NOT replacing DGen with DCG (why not? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) Then choose a campaign folder (whichever takes your fancy) from within the DCG folder and allow DCG to 'convert' it to make it an RAF camapign. I haven't got much time to post so I hope this short explanation will prove helpfull.

Thanks, Simon. I'll try as you suggest. I don't see why I shouldn't replace DGEN, esp as I could always use a separate install of FB.
