hi there ive just bought a joystick and thought this would b a good game to try it on, so ive downloaded the demo (no trainig in demo!), to see what its like, and i cant even take off, i dont know much about planes and this game seems to have a lot of controls, how many of these controls do u actually need to use?, and could someone give the a walkthrought on how to take off and what keys to press (defaults), i would really apreciate it, then i could buy the full gamehttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Try here:

Note: it's not a UBI site, and is therefore good, by default.

Just a friendly tip:buy "Forgotten Battles" ,not "IL2 Sturmovik"./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

This hard to xplain in full but I will try.

First use the IL2 Fighter/ Bomber, to lern to take off and land. Don't use a Fighter to lern how to take off and land. Fighter planes are lighter, usualy faster, and very monuifurable.
So your in your IL2 sitting on the run way.

First. start your engine... Press the I botton on Keyboard.

Second. make shure your flaps are up or set to Flaps take off. F is flaps up V is flaps down.

Third. you will use you rudder contols to steer your plane while on the ground or runway. I use Rudder control full left..Z Rudder control full right...X. You might have to set the bottons configureation in the Controls Menu.

Fourth B is your brake I think. I have the Space Bar set as the Brake.

Fifth. F2 is your external vew F1 internal vew.

Six .line the plane on the runnway so that your pointing strate.

Seven. Floor it... Decreace throttle - Increese throttle +.

When you or if you manage to reach 170 I think, pull back on your Joystick jently. When your off the the ground press G to rase you gear. Then press F to rase your flaps.

Make shure you have the Difficulty settings on Easy.

I hope this helps; Because my foot just went to sleep and I have to go.

I love your style Wayne! You get the peripherals first and the game later. Just don't spend it all on the gear, you need some money to buy "IL-2:Forgotten Battles" too. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

(Stay away from "IL-2", most of the online crowd has moved to IL-2:FB.)
